I listened to the fading sound of Silver as he walked down the hall, telling everyone to go to sleep.

It wouldn't be wise for me to look for the Chaos Emerald now, I should probably wait one more hour, to make sure everyone was asleep.

I pulled out my Miles Electric again, looking at where the Chaos Emerald was. I tried to figure out where it actually was, but I don't know this school well enough to be able to say for sure.

While I waited for the hour to pass, I inspected Eggman's machine as best as I could, using the flashlight on my watch. I wasn't going to risk turning on the lights for something like this.

I sighed in frustration. Working on this machine was pointless, until I got all of the Chaos Emeralds.

I hid the machine under my bed again, my baggy pyjamas sleeves almost getting caught with in it. The school had provided me with matching pyjamas, grey and plaid. I was kind of relieved, because I didn't want to sleep in the uniform.

I checked my watch again. It was five to twelve. Close enough.

I slowly opened my door, cringing when it creaked. I peaked my head out, checking to see if anyone was up. I couldn't see anyone, but then again, I couldn't see a thing. The only light was the pale moonlight leaking through the occasional window.

Clutching the Miles Electric close to myself, I snuck into the hall, leaving the door slightly ajar. Nobody will be able to see that it was open unless if there was light, and they were actually looking for it.

I crept down the halls, glancing every once in a while at the Miles Electric, making sure I was going in the right direction.

Up ahead, I suddenly heard male voices.

I gasped and opened the closest door, closing it gently behind me.

It was pitch black in this room, so I turned on the flashlight on my watch. Seeing all the mops and brooms in this crowded room, I realized I was hiding in a closest.

"He won't suspect a thing!" I heard a voice say. I quickly turned off the light and held my breath, waiting for the voices to pass.

"No one'll suspect a thing!" Another voice exclaimed.

"Sshh!" The first one shushed. "We don't want anyone to know we're up."

"Sorry."

These voices sounded familiar... Like... Sonic and Knuckles!

I was about to open the door, when I remembered. This was some sort of different dimension, and they have no idea who I am, except that I'm some strange kid that appeared out of nowhere. Well, apparently Knuckles saw me falling from the sky.

"Hey! What are you two doing?" Another voice yelled. I sucked in a breath and held it.

I heard running as two sets of feet bolted down the hall, right past my closet. I quietly let out my breath, still waiting for the other person to go after them.

But I heard something else instead.

"There we go," he said. I had to strain my ears to hear him, but his voice was there. And I couldn't help but notice that his voice didn't sound familiar... At all.

Not one of my friends sound like him.

I listened to his quiet footsteps fade away, but they never went near the closet. Once I was sure that he was gone, I quietly opened the door, slowly peaking out to make sure I was alone.

Not a soul in sight.

Closing the closet door, I took out my Miles Electric and started following the signal to the Chaos Emerald.

As I walked, I couldn't help but notice how quiet it was. I found myself jump at every weirdly shaped shadow, and every noise I heard. I found myself needing to reassure myself that it was ok, it's only as eerie as my imagination makes it. Unfortunately, my imagination was making it beyond creepy.

Soon, I found myself in front of a familiar door.

"The office?" I murmured, confused. I glanced at the Miles Electric. This was where it was tracking the Chaos Emerald. What would a Chaos Emerald be doing in the school office?

I opened the door and sneaked in once there was enough room for me to.

A glance at the Miles Electric again. It told me that the Chaos Emerald was just in front of me. I went behind the desk, opening the drawers, until I found it.

I held up the light blue Chaos Emerald in amazement. That had been surprisingly easy.

Suddenly, I heard a door slam. My eyes widened and I looked around frantically for a hiding spot.

"This way," that voice from earlier hissed. With no other options, I followed the direction I heard the voice, and found myself in—take a guess—another closet.

"Tha—" I started, but realized that he wasn't there. I wasn't able to feel anyone close to me in this small closet.

I was about to close the closet door all the way, but the lights to the other room turned on. I was momentarily blinded, having been used to the dark.

Through the crack of the door, I was just able to see a computer by the desk.

Someone blocked my view for a moment, but then he sat down in front of the computer. What was Principle Eggman doing here at this time of night?

He turned on the computer screen, and it took everything I had not to gasp.

"Hello, Principle Me," the voice on the screen said.

"Dr. Eggman," the principle spoke up. "I have news."
