Chapter Twenty-Three

Start from the beginning

“Hey Warwick” she called out as he left

“You're good to him” she observed

“Well I didn’t exactly have the best father” I jumped back onto the bed. I nuzzled her neck

“Really?” she seemed interested. She kissed my head through my hair

“Well he did the best he could without my mother” I told her not wanting to go into too much detail

“What happened to her?” she asked politely not forcing me to answer

“She was murdered right in front of me” I kissed her neck and burried my face into it

“Do you know who did it?” she asked her hands running through my hair

“No” I lied, I didn’t want her to know that Francis killed her.

“That sucks” she caressed my cheek, pulling me in to kiss her

“I know” I felt so guilty with that lie but if the time came that she had to know then I would tell her then, I don’t want her to want to run away from here.

She looked at the alarm clock next to her “I need to get going” she sighed

“What are you doing if you don’t mind me asking?” I got up putting on some clothes, might as well get up.

“If you didn’t know I have a job” she smiled she seemed proud

 “What job?” I asked her

“I'm a social worker” she told me

“Wow” I was amazed; I didn’t know she could get a job that fast

“I was qualified before I got taken away” she explained as if reading my thought, even though I know that’s not possible because of my barrier

She got her clothes on, I lead her to the door “See ya later then” I kissed her cheek

“I guess I will” she kissed my cheek as well

I closed the door as she waved her last goodbye. I went into my room and took out the dishes. I washed all of the cooking items I used and put them back in their right places.

“Well Logan looks like you did pretty well for yourself. You even marked her” Hayden observed punching my arm

“Yeah, I didn’t blow it by saying something stupid” I admitted

My phone rang “Ten bucks it Francis” Hayden betted. As if I was going to agree but then again ten dollars really isn’t a lot for me. I know there are other people in this world where ten dollars mean life or death.

 I answered the phone

“Come down to the hospital, I have finished analysing the blood. I want to check some other things as well” Francis said

“Alright I'll be down their in a few” I told him before hanging up

“Was I right?” Hayden asked eagerly

“Yes” I answered giving him ten dollars from my wallet on the counter he was such a kid

I went out the door and was on my way to the hospital. It didn’t take long to get there like the time before it felt like the trip was shorter

I got inside, I saw Kayla their “Hey” I greeted her with a hug from behind

“Oh my gosh hi” she turned around

“A patient here?” I asked her

“Yeah, they were admitted today” she told me

“Logan” I turned around to be met by Francis
