By that gleaming river,
Eternal resident of the City of Light
Soon to be gilded in night,
We delight ourselves
In the comforts of croissants, cafes and cabarets.
As young as we are,
Ours is just the newest edition of love
That runs and plays through the city
Where love has etched its name.
Together we lay, body and soul
Next to the mirror's edge and
Allow our minds to fly freely
Across the scarlet sky.
Better still that we stand
Perplexed by the river's alluring calmness
Of course, it has seen love surge
Many times, in many forms
On its ancient shores
That nothing else needs to be said.

Observations
PoetryThese are the poems that I wrote during my senior year of high school. Writing them reminded me that quality, not quantity, is important in poetry.
