My stomach clenched in agony. The craving of Lo'mein and fried rice with bourbon chicken piled on top, urged my stomach to be in agony more. This hunger was intense, and slowly a red spot started seeping through my jeans. Periods were a bitch.
"Father! Birth giver!" I called to my parents.
They ran up the stairs worried wondering why I was screaming bloody murder. Hehe pun intended. They ran up the stairs like animals, I'm surprised they weren't running on all fours like dogs... I love my parents. I explained to my parents what was happening and my mother shook her head laughing a little while my Dad rolled his eyes and mumbled something about crazy womanly hormones.
I went to go change out of these pants in the bathroom while my mom sprawled across my bed like a starfish. The car started out side and I assumed my Dad went to go get me some Chinese food from the restaurant up the street. He should know the drill by now. It's a big routine in my house, whenever my mom is on her period we get Italian food to satisfy her cravings and to stop her from biting our heads off. We think of it like giving offerings to a demon so they don't kill the whole village. And this was his offering to me because everyone knows that food is really the only thing that helps you get through periods and I would really hate for there to be more blood than necessary.
My Dad returned thirty minutes later. Just in time before death completely took over. Me and my mom rushed down to get the food as soon as we heard the door open. When we got to the kitchen my dad was just putting the food on the counter. My kitchen was pretty ordinary. We had light blue walls and with a wood counter top and table fit for four. We had a pretty good stove an oven but my dad was the only one who actually cooks. Whenever he asks my mom to cook she replies with, "No I'm taking a stand against gender roles. As my husband you should love me enough to support that." Needless to say my dad was forced into cooking for as long as I can remember. I can cook, kind of but I leave that to my Dad.
I scooped all of the food I wanted onto my plate and while my parents weren't looking I swiped all the fortune cookies.
"Can I eat in my room?" I asked my parents, normally they would say no. But all I want to do right now is stay cooped up in my bed and surf the channels on my television. I gave my Dad pleading eyes. He rolled his eyes a bit before nodding. I was halfway up the stairs when I heard my mom's laugh.
"You my love are so whipped." I smiled, one day I want someone like that but for now Netflix will have to fill that person's shoes.
I settled in my bed while i devoured my food. My eyes were glued to the romantic scene in front of me. He shouted her name while running through the airport. She turned around just as she was to approach the gate. She turned her head and the shock was written across her face. He ran up to her only slightly out of breath. Then they walked towards each other slowly. The air flight attendants just watched them with small smiles as they watched the reuniting lovers. He held her face and they kissed everyone ooo'd and awwww'd.
Tears dotted my vision. it was so freaking romantic! I opened up two of the fortune cookies I stole. The first one read 'here is only one happiness in life: to love.' Wow how perfect considering my current hopeless romantic state. I opened the other one while loudly crunching on the first cookie this one said 'Explore to find yourself, you will always be lost if you 'don't go seek'. I looked back at the TV, the male lead was on his right knee talking about how he didn't truly know himself until he met her, then he brought out a ring.
Love.
Find yourself.
Explore.
Happiness.
The camera dramatically circled the Eiffel Tower as they made out passionately.
Paris.
