Wonders Underneath

After School

Every day after school I will walk to my mom's work. She works as a real estate manager. When I arrive at the office, I set in the second chair to the left. I sit and wait for about fifteen minutes until I'm called up to go to her office. We still stay there for another fifteen minutes unless she has a meeting.

So then we just go on with our everyday lives, dinner, violin practice, anything else we have going on, boring life actually. My mom is making take violin. Today is my birthday and all I asked for was a friend.

"Annabelle, your mother is ready for you upstairs." Terri said. Terri is the lady at the front desk. She always calls me up.

As soon as I got to my mom's office, she told me happy birthday. Then, she sent me downstairs because she has a meeting.

So there I went, back downstairs. I waited for two hours. I did some homework, but it only took fifteen minutes. All I could do was lean my head back and think; but as soon as my head hit the wall, there was an opening and my chair spun around. It gave me a ride into this cave. Finally, it lead me to this stair case. I know it looked dangerous but I had time. I had to explore. At the end of the stair case there was a slide. I thought about stopping but I couldn't.

When I got to the bottom I kept shouting, "Hello. Is anyone down here? Hello?" I sat down and started to cry. There was no one here and no way out. Then I heard a small, deep voice. It was like nothing I had heard before. I looked up and saw this small, troll like creature.

"Well what is your name young lady?"

I know I'm not supposed to, but I want to. I'm going to tell him what my real name is.

"Hello fellow creature." I answered him, "People call me Annabelle. Now who might you be? What might you be?"

"Why I am Sinja. I'm a grublin. Me and the other cave creatures live here in this cave. Isn't it marvoluos?"

"Why yes. Of course. You said other creatures. What did you mean?"

"Well first of all, you don't have to talk in that elegant language. And everyone else is back there in the party."

"The party. It's our king's birthday! Come on! Let's go."
