James signed up to become an Auror almost immediately after he graduated from Hogwarts with Sirius. Sirius joined as he wanted the extra f*ck you to be implied towards his parents, while James joined as he wanted to protect Isabelle and his unborn child.
While Isabelle, though unexpected, went in a different direction. Isabelle opened up her own muggle department shop on Diagon Alley. She grew up with records, CDs, and what she considered to be "normal clothes" and she wanted to share things like that with pure-blood, and half-blood wizards and witches.
She also took up the habit of baking sweets, but that's another story.
