Hey! So this is my first fanfiction so I hope you like it. Look at my adorable sons. Aren't they just so precious. My name's Em but that's not important, back to the fic. It's first person in Troye's perspective and he's an adorable little loner nugget.

I was roused from my content daydreaming by the voice of my ever-so-boring math teacher, Mr. Brown. I turned my head to see him gazing back at me expectantly. He had drops of sweat forming on his bald head and his tie was crooked. I've never seen anyone get as worked up about math as he did. How he has a wife, I have no idea. He had asked me a question but I missed what it was. I probably wouldn't have known the answer anyway. Searching the board frantically, my eyes skipped from equation to equation but nothing made any sense to me. Just white etchings on a green board. I sighed deeply and turned back to him, defeat evident in my eyes. This time though, Mr. Brown was apparently not going to let it go like he usually did.
"I am done with you not paying attention in my class, young man! One week's detention", he boomed before turning back to the chalkboard once again and continuing his boring lesson.
I rolled my eyes extravagantly and returned to my previous activities. The old clock on the wall slowly ticked away the seconds until the end of the day. There were only five more minutes until I was out of this hell and on my way home. Hopefully, Lulu would walk home with me, instead of ditching me for the cheerleaders like she sometimes did. I really didn't like them, with all of their fake smiles and perfect hair. They were always too cool for other people and it made me mad. In fact, I preferred to call them the cheer-vultures, though I would never say it to their faces. Lu would kill me. I'm not really sure how she even became a cheerleader because she was just so damn clumsy. I twirled one of my short brown curls with my index finger as I looked to the door longingly. 2 more minutes.
"Quit eye-fucking the door, Troye Boy, or people might think you're a slut."
I turned my head once again, this time to see the head cheer-vulture, Kacia. She loved to torment me about my lack of friends. She was always telling Lu to quit hanging out with me. I was tough though; I wouldn't let some airhead like her get to me. I liked to think that it was her lack of self-esteem talking, not her. Or maybe it was that pile of black hair on her head that she says is hers but I'm 70% sure is a wig. That thing has evil powers.
"Of course Kacia, wouldn't want to steal your title," I promised with a smirk on my face.
Her face turned sour and she was about to shout something at me when the bell rang. Everyone around me stood from their seats and practically bolted towards the door. What do you expect from a bunch of high school kids on a Friday afternoon? They probably all had friends to meet up with, parties to attend, and pranks to pull. I don't know, whatever normal teenagers do. I grabbed my books and made my way to the front of the classroom, awaiting my fate. Mr. Brown glared down at me with a tired look in his eyes.
"One week, starting Monday. Don't you dare be late Troye!"
"Of course not sir, I'll be there," I announced and then started to leave the room, but not before stopping in the doorway to whisper, "Probably."
And then I was gone, whisked away by the crowd of hormonal kids eager to be anywhere but here. The smirk fell off my face as I wove through the mass in an attempt to find Lu. I was about to lose hope when I saw her standing in front of the school, at the trunk of the massive tree that had probably been here longer than we had. She was still wearing her white cheerleader's uniform with the Hiraeth High logo emblazoned across her chest. Her shoulder-length, dark brown hair was tied back into a tight ponytail, probably because she didn't want people to know that she sweats like a normal human being. I quickened my steps to meet her, eager to reach her before those dreaded cheer-vultures did. When I finally reached her side, she lifted her head and smiled, her long eyelashes fluttering up as she did so. It wasn't one of the fake cheer-vulture's smiles. This one was genuine and it reminded me of why we were friends. We might be different, but Lu and I looked out for each other and to me, that was worth more than any fake, back-stabbing friendship where we painted each other's nails and talked about boys. She might be twenty-times more popular than I was, and a hundred-times prettier, but she still stuck with me for whatever reason. Lu looked down at her phone one more time before pushing it into her pocket and turning towards the long sidewalk that led to our neighbouring houses.
