It was on December 29th 1777

that pepper pot soup was first made

on the orders of George Washington

by Christopher Ludwick,a chef by trade.

He was told to make something

to strengthen and warm his men,

using tripe, vegetable scraps and spices,

making them fit to fight again.

Washington's troops won the war,

the soup had fired up each man,

but this story is just a myth,

the Caribbean is where Pepper Pot began..

The story true or false about pepper pot goes as follows:

Pepper pot is a thick spicy soup that was first made on December 29th 1777 during the Revolutionary War, the Continental army were experiencing a very harsh winter and were getting low on food, Christopher Ludwick the baker general for the army gathered whatever food he could find, meat, tripe and peppercorns, added some seasoning and pepper pot was born.
