The Fall

Hi guys! This is my first ever story on Wattpad, so please excuse any mistakes! Hope you enjoy my story :)

Fire.

That's all that registered in Athena's mind as she woke up coughing, struggling to breathe.
What the hell was happening?
Quickly she ran out of her room, she had to find the others, make sure they were okay. Fire was one of the few things that the gods feared, although it may not kill them, it could leave them injured or worse for centuries.

Athena's room was near the centre of the palace and as she took in her surroundings she realised that the fire was everywhere. The flames licked the palace walls, destroying everything it came across, the paintings, the tapestries, the scrolls. Millions of years of history destroyed by a simple flicker across them.

'Athena!' She heard someone shouting her name.
A tall and muscular figure could be made out just behind a wall of fire.

'Zues?! What's happening?'

'Athena, Kronos escaped! They all did, and they're all here!'

Athena's heart stopped, the Titans had escaped. And that's when she heard a mighty roar, a roar that shook the palace and could probably be heard from 100 miles away. The columns started cracking. She had to cross the fire, get to Zues. So she ran. Through the burning flames and across the scorching ground. She had been burnt. Within seconds she ran into Zues and he caught her in his arms. But she didn't whimper, she didn't cry, she was strong. They looked at each other, panic and uncertainty evident in their eyes.

'Where are the others?' Athena asked.

'Hera went to get them, I stayed to look for you because we need a plan.'

Athena nodded and began to think, strategies came with ease to her, she was after all the goddess of wisdom.

'Where are the Titans?'

'Near the front entrance, Kronos is throwing flame balls left, right and centre. Hyperion is trying to start some earthquakes and the rest are eating everyone they can find!'

Shit. The Titans are strong, all of them combined are impossible to beat. But they had to try. They couldn't let the Titans come back, for the sake of their people and for the sake of the Earth.

'Zues, you need to use your lightning bolts, where's Poseidon? You'll need him to control water, make a wave, electrify it and push it towards the Titans. It won't take them down but it will give us more time to plan a counter attack. Tell Hera to evacuate Olympus, send them to the outer realms, we cannot have anyone eaten.'

'Got it, I'll go find Poseidon, where are you going to go?'

'I need to find weapons'

'Be safe, I'll meet you out front.'

Zues turned and ran through more flames, he didn't hesitate, he knew that the pain was necessary to save Olympus. Athena saw his courage and that fueled hers, the weaponry was deeper in the palace, where the flames were more fierce and congested. She took a deep breath and ran. Pain, so much pain, but she was almost there, just another 100 meters. She made it, the weaponry was protected, flames couldn't get inside and only one of the twelve Olympians could open it. She thrust herself inside, glad to be out of the fire and glad to be safe, for now. The pain was excruciating, but she pushed it to the back of her mind, she needed to concentrate. She grabbed as much as she could, swords, arrows, bows, all of it. Athena binded them by magic and they floated behind her as she prepared to run through the flames again.

110 seconds. That's how long it took her to run to where the others were, she arrived just in time to see the tidal wave Poseidon had created swarm over the Titans. They were electrocuted, but it wouldn't be for long. The Titans heal at double the rate the Olympians did and by Athena's calculations they had about 20 seconds before they were ambushed once again. Athena tossed each God a weapon, keeping a bow and some arrows for herself.

Immediately she started firing her arrows, Zues fired his lightning bolts and those with swords ran forward to attack. It seemed to be working, they looked weaker, but that's when the first earthquake hit. The ground shook violently, causing the gods to fall to the ground, the palace behind them began to crumble further, their home was ruined.

There was a pause in the fight as Kronos had suddenly grabbed hold of Zues.
Each of the gods held their breath, unsure of what was going to happen.

'You gods think you're so great, you think you can just overthrow us and we would be trapped forever? Athena,' He smirked, looking directly at her 'For the goddess of wisdom, you are pretty stupid not to see this coming.' He looked at Zues, who was struggling to get out of Kronos's death grip. 'I could eat you, I could end it all right now. But what's the fun in that?'

Athena let out a breath of relief she didn't even know she was holding. He wasn't going to eat them. But then she realised that it must mean he's going to do something much worse. By the look on his face, Zues realised it too. In a flash the gods were
Binded by some powerful force, they couldn't move, this was new. Never have the gods seen the Titans do something like this, their power had grown tremendously.

Athena looked at the God to her right, it was Poseidon, they caught each others eye.

'What the hell?' He mouthed to her.

She shook her head, wondering the same thing. Suddenly another earthquake hit, only this time it opened up a hole in the ground. Shock was clear on all the gods faces while the Titans stood smugly.

'You once trapped us, now we're going to trap you.' Kronos sneered.

Oh no, Athena thought, this was bad, really bad. She tried to get out of the binding spell but it was no use, evidently all those centuries that they were trapped, the Titans grew their powers well. Slowly all the gods started moving towards the hole, panic was the only emotion seen on any of their faces.

'Enjoy being human.' Kronos said and then laughed evilly.

Suddenly the gods started to fall and the only thought that went through any of their minds was: Human?!
