I awoke to the beeping sounds of my alarm clock. I reluctantly stretched over to the white night stand beside my bed and reached for the alarm clock. The alarm clock read 6:00 am. Letting out a  heavy sigh, I headed to the bathroom for a shower. The cold water cascaded over me, making me feel refreshed.

I threw on an oversized black t-shirt with a pair of white baggy pants and tied my long hair into a messy bun. Walking down a flight of stairs, I headed towards the kitchen to prepare some vanilla pancakes.

I've been living with my Aunt Macie since I lost both my parents at the age of 8. I was grateful that Aunt Macie adopted me since she's single and she doesn't have kids. However, she's quite abusive, especially when she gets drunk, and she gets drunk most of the time.

"Get me a can of beer." I hear as I turn around to see Aunt Macie sitting at the dining table. Her hair was all messy and she smelled like alcohol. I guess she came back late last night and collapsed without taking a bath. "What are you looking at? I said, get me a can of beer!" She raised her voice and shot me a death glare. I nodded and hurried to the fridge to get a can of beer for her. After I placed the canned beer in front of her, the pancakes were served. I sat down at the table and started eating my pancakes. After a while, she lit a cigarette. She took a puff on the cigarette and stared at me.

"In a short while, get yourself ready and someone will come to pick you up." She looked out the windows, taking another puff on the cigarette.

I looked at her in disbelief and confusion ."What?Don't tell me.."  My biggest fear finally came true. Over the past few years, demons have been buying humans. Yes, Zolenn is a city where demons do exist with us humans. When I was 10,the demons' ruler had changed their rule:they can live with humans. Some of the demons fell in love with humans while some bought humans as slaves. I was always afraid that one day,Aunt Macie would sell me to demons since she hated me so much and she was pretty much desperate for money.I continued asking her,"Did you..sell me..to a demon?"

Aunt Macie avoided my eyes at first. She then turned to face me and nodded.

"Why did you do that, Aunt Macie? Have I not been good enough for you? For years, I've been trying to do my best and listened to you! Why...Why did you adopt me and sell me to some demon now?! I would have rather died than to live with those evil creatures!" My voice started to break. I despise demons even though i know some of them are good because my only best friend, Kathleen was killed by a demon when she refused to be sold to him who wanted her as a sex slave.

Aunt Macie slapped me hard across my face as she yelled at me."Who do you think you are, stupid girl?! How dare you raise your voice talking to me!" I started sobbing uncontrollably as I fell to the cold hard floor. "You should feel lucky that your owner is coming in an hour,or else i would have beaten you to death!" She threw her cigarette end on the floor before leaving the dining hall. I stopped crying after a while but my tears left traces on my cheeks. Reluctantly, I went back to my room and got changed into an oversized hoodie with a pair of black sweatpants. I packed my things into my luggage and walked out of my room, shutting the door behind me in the process. I can't believe I'm leaving my room and this house where I lived for so long. I don't have a choice, do I? As I walked down the stairs,I could hear someone talking to Aunt Macie in the living room.

"Ah, she's here."Aunt Macie turned around as she noticed my footsteps and walked towards me.She whispered into my ears,"Behave, you hear me?" I bit my lip and finally held my head up to see my so-called owner. To my surprise, it wasn't some evil-looking demon. This man looked like he was in his his early twenties and about 6 foot tall. He wore a tight black v-neck shirt which did little to hide his buff body with a pair of white jeans. He had jet black hair and his eyes were emerald green. He's a charming guy who could easily captivate any girl. I'm not even beautiful. Why would he want me? I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts.

The man cleared his throat and his eyes stared into mine. A blush rose to my cheek. Nobody has ever stared at me like that. "So," he took a step forward towards me, his voice was deep but rather attractive. "You're Sylvia?" I nodded and looked down at my feet.

"Come on,Sylvia. We're going home." He smiled at me. I don't know why but I felt quite warm after he smiled at me. I would never have thought that he's a demon if Aunt Macie didn't tell me. Home..right. This isn't my home anymore. It never was. I nodded again and he helped me carry my luggage into his black car. I walked nearer towards the car and noticed it was a Ferrari. I bet he's rich.

"Aunt Macie,i know you hated me." I walked back towards the house and held Aunt Macie's hands."But still..you took care of me for those years. So,thank you." Her eyes widened in shock. She then gave me a pat on the shoulder and turned around entering her house, slamming the door shut without saying another word. I sighed before I got into the car.
