Annie woke up on her bed, and then dressed in to her polka dot dress. She then went to her mini mirror, it was time for makeup. It was 6:00 am. It was Annie's new day for the cosmetic like store that had just this week. The store has been getting lots of customers lately.
She opened up her employees hand booklet, and read it on her way to the bus stop.
"Hey girl, your really pretty"
There was a man next to her, with a slick back, Johnny style type look. A pretty boy ya say?
"Hey..."
"Come on Hun, why don't I see that pretty smile of yours?" Said the mysterious man.
"What's your name sir?" Mumbled Annie
"Terrence Robinson." Said the man.
"Mr. Terrence Robinson sir. Why must you be up this early at the bus stop?" Annie questioned Terrence.
"I'm only here t-"
The bus breaks skidded on the pavement. Annie walked slowly up to the bus driver, looking at the man she had just met.
"Bye Terrence!"
She sat at the front. Looking into the bus drivers eyes. He was feeling angst, as he would glare at the road, unsympathetic to anything and everything in his way. Annie could see it in his eyes. The bus ride was longer than expected. So she opened up her book, "And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie".
"Oh Vera! We know it's you! Give up!" She screamed out. How awkward that must have been for her. Everyone in he bus stared at her profusely.
It's finally the end of the ride, and climbed out and walked on the sidewalk. She was scared to be late. "Anyone would be. Right?"
The store met her eye. Annie sighed tiredly and started. At first Annie predicted that it was going to be boring...How fun it was! Putting makeup on customers. She loved it, of course she did:
The job ended at 9:00. She walked down to the bus stop, and went on the bus. Same busdriver, same look.
Now Annie was home with, ugh, her husband. He was a kind of abusive she thought. That's why makeup was her job. To cover the truth. That's what Annie was hiding each night.
"Why was the liver undercooked?"
"I'm-"
"I don't wanna hear a sorry!"
"I didn't mean to?"
"You're always pathetic, you b-"
That's when Robert snapped. He shook her head and banged it on the kitchen table. After her beating was done, she went on the couch.
"Why me?" She thought to her herself over and over. It was time to leave. A perfect man she thought. Love at first sight. Mother warned her. Oh. How she warned her. Shall I leave? Shall I? I must leave, leave at midnight, back to Ohio with mother and papa.
Annie went up and grabbed her suitcase she had prepared to take each night. It was time. She wrote a half-assed note to Robert.
-booked it. California life wasn't for her. She rode out the door with no regret.
