Mischief Questioned

Prologue: The case

I walked into my employer's office to find him stroking his cat with a small on his face. I sat down on his oddly shaped couch and waited impatiently.

"Glad, you could make it"
"Well, it is my job", I said
He coughed. With an annoyed glare, I said "Sir".
"Well, let me get right to the point. I have a case for you. Its very urgent and I believe you may want to take it"
"What is the case about?"
"Its about committed murder."
I nod.

'Michael Giorelloni is a suspect and i want you to find anything about Michael that may pin point him as the murderer.There is sufficient evidence to convict him under our terms, but he has hired one of the best lawyers to fight his case. I want to be able to convict him with more than enough evidence to assure that he will stay in prison. To do that, I need an extraordinary detective with undercover skills. That is why, Clara you have to take the case."

I look at him and ponder his offer. Well I have nothing to lose. I have been wanting a real case and this is my opportunity. Of course, my boss thinks he is a judge or CEO of a detective agency, but he isn't. He is just an employer and dispatcher for cases. Similar but not the same.

"I will take the case"
"Excellent, you start tomorrow morning at around 7 am and your salary will be 60 dollars an hour for each day. You may leave and rest for awhile because this case will take all your energy."

I nod and walk away. There goes my freedom. At least my salary was raised a couple  dollars more. I could of asked for a higher salary but then I would've risked losing this case and honestly this is the most exciting case I've taken for ages. Ever since my spinal injury, I've felt useless and unnecessary but now i actually feel special and valuable. I wasn't able to walk for 6 months but then I returned to work and I was treated differently. My cases were mainly about robberies. Its important but not as thrilling as a murder case. I am finally seen as a detective again. A detective that helps solves serious crimes. An undercover one too. I smirk and walk into my apartment. I'll binge eat and sleep all day. Its going to be one of my last days as a couch potato for awhile at least.
