He pulled me into a kiss, pulled back, and smiled.

"This is perfect."

"I know it is."

There was silence as he continued to run his hands through my hair, smiling at me. Okay, now would be the time to ask what happened... I sat up and held his hand in mine.

"Harry..."

"Yes, love?"

"What happened yesterday?"

His smiled faded into a frown. He sat up beside me.

"I knew you would ask. You were going to find out sooner or later."

As the light hit his face, I could tell that he had a cut on his lip and that his right eye was purple. I put my hand in the cut on his lip.

"Please tell me," I said as I pulled my hand back.

"Well, I'll start with one of my best mates... I mean, he used to be."

"Used to be?"

"I'm getting there... Anyways, his name is Louis. We were best friends in England. We would go out and play poker every night. Especially after we moved here. But, I got into some trouble. Lost a couple thousand. The person I lost the moment to, Kenneth, recruited Louis to get the money from me, because I never paid it up front. Kenneth said he wouldn't make Louis work for him after I paid all the money. I'm short 300 dollars. That's why I'm working at the dance studio. That, and, well, I get to see you more often."

He smirked playfully.

"If you would've told me, I would've helped you. I can get a job. I can help."

"I don't want you to. I want you to finish school and then go to college. Without having a job get in the way of your studies. I had the extra 300. But I'm saving anywhere from 150 to 200 each month we're together."

"And why is that?" I said slyly.

"You'll know later," he said quietly, with a smile.

"I don't want you hurt again. I cried and cried last night. I didn't even..."

Then I realized that I never called my mom to warn her.

"Shoot!" I yelled, jumping off of the bed.

"What is it?"

"I never called my mom. She's probably worried about me, wondering where I am."

I ran over to my purse, pulled out my phone, and dialed her number. It rang twice before she picked up.

"Dana?"

"Hey mom. Sorry I didn't call."

"It's fine dear. I figured you and Harry went back to his place or something."

"Mom, that's not funny."

"I wasn't worried. Harry seems like a nice boy. It wouldn't have mattered."

"Well, he got hurt last night and I stayed with him at the hospital."

"Oh my goodness! Is he okay?"

"He's fine. I just wanted to check in with you."

"Well, everything's fine. I just assumed-"

"I know, mom. Well, I'm gonna go. I'll see you in a little bit."

"Alright, bye sweetie."

I put my phone back in my purse and smiled. I turned to Harry, causing my dress to twirl a bit. I ran my hands through my hair and let out a deep breath. My curls were a bit flat.
