Well, here's chapter three!!(:
The next morning, I dragged my feet out of bed around 5 o'clock. I groaned as I made my way to the bathroom. I probably looked like a zombie.
I finished up my shower, threw on a semi-cute outfit, and put on some makeup. The outfit kind of looked boy-ish. It was a leather jacket, black, paired with a yellow tank that I planned to wear at my dance class later. I also had on black skinny jeans and a white pair of Vans. I curled my hair down the side of my face to frame it perfectly. I also pinned my bangs back, giving my hair a bit of volume in the front. I looked at the finished product in the mirror and smiled. I heard a honk outside the living room door.
"Bye mom! I'll see you after dance!"
"Okay honey be careful!" she yelled back to me. I was so grateful to hear her voice. I hopped into Bri's car and she began to drive to school.
Usually, on the ride there, we have tons to talk about. But today, it was silent. Bri had to break the silence...
"Why do you look all dolled up today?"
"Erm, I dunno. Just thought I'd try something new."
Silence...
"Who is he?"
"Who is who?"
"The guy you're so obviously dressing up for."
"No one. Can't I just dress up once in a while?" I said with a chuckle.
"No. You never have."
More silence...
"Is it Aiden?" she said with a slight laugh.
I took in a deep breath.
Lie to her, or don't. Your move Dana.
"Well, yes and no."
Nailed it.
"What do you mean?"
Dang it.
"Well, yes it's for Aiden. And no, it's not."
"Explain further."
"Aiden will probably like this outfit. But, um, there's this other guy. I met him at the café across the road from the dance studio."
I looked down at my hand. Despite my hour-and-a-half-long shower, that smiley face was still there. Seeing it made me snicker.
"Ooooo... What's his name?"
"Huh?"
"His name, what is it?"
"Oh, uh, I'm not at liberty to say."
"Fine. Don't tell me."
"Look, it's probably not going to be anything serious, so I don't feel comfortable giving out his name. Maybe if it be becomes more serious, okay?"
"I trust you Dana."
"I know you do. I trust you too."
We arrived at the school and walked in. This is going to be a long day...
At lunch that day, I was surprised to see that Aiden was coming to talk to me.
"Hey Aiden."
"Hey Dana. How are you?"
"I'm doing great. You?"
"I just came over here to compliment your outfit. It looks... Good."
"Thanks," I said shyly, tucking my curls behind my ears. He started to look around and I saw one of his friends waving at him. He smiled and waved back.
