Blog #34:

Amber looked at us once more before bursting into tears. She had this look of guilt in her eyes and I immediately put two and two together: she was the girl that Ms. Picket punched in the face.. yet the stolen necklace was around Robin's neck.

Ms. Carla: "Amber and Destiny? What's she talking about, because I swear if you girls got into anymore trouble.." she hollered.
Amber: "Ms. Carla.. I-" LaLa cut her off.
LaLa: "I think she was just embarrassed that she got so badly injured."

With LaLa flashing an irreproachable smile, Ms. Carla took a seat, believing the excuse.

LaLa: "Ladies.. Maybe we can go to Dairy Queen and get to know each other a little more." she smiled, looking directly at Destiny who was eyeballing her.
Aja: "I don't want no damn ice cream."
B: "Then you can stay your ass here." Looking over at Ms. Carla, I rethought my initial response. "If you don't want to go, you can be the only person that stays here."

After LaLa and I split the bill, both paying for 3 girls since Aja stayed at the community center, I took a seat at a booth with the girls. LaLa sat with Robin and Destiny in the booth to the right of the restaurant, laughing and smiling.

Sitting across from Amber and Kayla, I scrolled down my timeline to see the model, Ruby Rose leaning in front of a car with a girl sitting on the hood.

The girl's face wasn't visible, but her black Louis Vuitton heels were- I payed it no attention and put my phone away to see the two girls whispering back and forth to each other.

B: "Your name's Amber, right?"
Kayla: "Yup, that's her name. What ice cream did you get?" she questioned.
B: "Rocky Road." I smiled, licking my spoon clean before going in with another scoop. "You're Kayla, right?"
Kayla: "That's right. Number 32 on the basketball team, like Magic." she smiled. "Don't worry about Aja. She's having some problems at home. They'll all warm up to you eventually. Isn't that right?" she smiled, elbowing a distracted Amber.

So far, Kayla was my favorite.

I looked to Amber who was silent, shoving ice cream in her mouth and staring across the room at LaLa's table. I looked in the same direction to find that she was staring at Robin.

B: "Why'd you do it?" I broke her trans-like state.
Amber: "I don't know what you're talking about."
B: "You know it's not okay to steal, right?"
Amber: "So because I'm from the poor part of town and don't wear name brand products, I always have to resort to stealing, right?" she said sarcastically, pushing her ice cream away.
B: "Fine. You don't want to tell me? I'll ask Robin."

Before I could fully stand up, Amber quietly grabbed my hand, trying not to attract attention.

Kayla: "Just tell her." she persisted. "Maybe she can help."
Amber: "Ms. Carla will kick me out of the center like she did You Know Who."
B: "I promise, I won't let her find out."
Amber: "Or tell my sister?" she questioned, making eye contact for the first time.
B: "I won't tell a soul."
Amber: "Words don't mean shit. I should know that by now." she crossed her arms.
Kayla: "She likes Robin."
Amber: "Kayla!"
Kayla: "It was Robin's birthday, so she felt like she had to get her a gift."
Amber: "Robin's parents has more money than all of ours, combined. She wears PINK & stuff from the H&M Balmain collection, and gets her nails done regularly. Those are just a few examples."
