Loki instantly stood up from his bed and engulfed Seran in a large hug. "Thank you. I'm sorry, I just... I didn't want to make you uncomfortable, and I guess I just ended up pushing you away."
They remained in their embrace for a couple more minutes, soaking in each other's emotions and repairing the split in their relationship. Seran backed away, subtly wiping his tears away. "Now then, what is going on in your life now that you found one of your soulmates?"
Loki resisted the urge to squeal like a dying pig, "He asked me out! Oh my gosh Seran, he's so freaking adorable! Like, he gets all flustered at every complement and... ugh, I just want to squish him!" Seran laughed at his rambling. They both knew that their bond hadn't been repaired completely, but they figured that was enough touchy-feely stuff for one day. After all, they had never really been the type to get mushy with things as disgusting as feelings. But apparently Seran wanted to start.
"So you mean you two haven't gone on a date yet?" Seran asked, baffled, "But you've known each other for almost a week!"
Loki blushed slightly and looked down. "Well, we haven't really had the time. He has school, I have school... Our schedules were conflicting."
Although Seran nodded, he still looked a bit doubtful. "That's understandable, but you guys are soulmates. And I know you talk to him every opportunity you get. I just don't understand how you two aren't already one of those gross couples everybody hates but secretly wants to be."
"For one, we have only actually seen each other twice." Seran gasped dramatically, as if that statement personally offended him. "Secondly, Finn is unbearably shy. Not like the shy where he barely talks," Loki rushed to say as his friend opened his mouth to point out that he had heard the college student talk all the time. "but he's just conservative. I guess. I don't really know how to describe what he is, but he isn't just going to kiss me."
Seran's eyebrow rose, "But he asked you out."
Loki ran a hand through his hair. "It's different though, because technically I asked him out first by saying we should go out sometime."
His friend scoffed. "I've never asked someone out before, but I'm pretty sure it takes more courage than just having someone tell you 'at some point in the future, we should go on a date.' There's the fear of the other person being busy or just not in the mood. I think Finn has more guts than you give him credit for."
Without even realizing it, Loki had been molding his version of Finn to be some sort of awkward coward. Sure the college freshman got easily flustered, sometimes said things without thinking, or was just an overall dork, but never had Finn been cowardly. Loki suddenly felt like the world's worst soulmate for dropping his significant other into the category of a wimp. And it took his best friend for him to realize his mistake.
"Oh my gosh. You're right," he breathed, looking at his hands as if they would reveal any other secrets, "I just... I just thought..." he let out a groan of frustration and fell back on his bed. "Seran, I'm a terrible person."
His friend smiled and sat down next to him, apparently just realizing he had been standing the whole time. "You are," he said, amusement lacing his tone. Loki reached up and lightly hit his friend's shoulder. "But I'm positive he'll love you anyway."
Loki puffed his cheeks and slowly let the air out in one, big, childish sigh. "I hope so," he mumbled. "Anyway, what do you want to talk about? Any secret crushes you have or little things you want to get off your chest?"
Seran blushed and looked away. "Of course I have a crush. I'm a healthy teenage boy that likes other people. What do you think I am? A rock?"
Squealing in excitement, Loki sat up and grabbed onto Seran's face, turning the boy to look at him and squishing his cheeks together comically. "Who's the lucky girl?" Despite Seran's willingness to watch yaoi anime with Loki, the boy was one hundred percent straight (even if Loki had found his secret stash of yaoi manga and playboy magazines under Seran's bed, he liked girls). It was odd, really, but according to Seran, the boy on boy romance stories were more interesting and less predictable than the normal girl meets boy and they fall in love; Loki didn't care, as long as he had a friend to fanboy with.
