The journey was hard, trying to get to the End. Even with the help of the pitiful bow and arrows, it was difficult trying to barter for the Endermens' precious enderpearls. Finally, at the second day of trial and error, Hero had one Enderman willing to even show where the stronghold was.
Hero had learned that the Enderman did not have a name. He told a story of how he was shunned at birth, when he was found unable to teleport like all the others.
So, Hero thought. That's how he knows where the stronghold is in the first place. He figured that most Endermen didn't even know where the stronghold was - what was the point, when you could just teleport there?
The Enderman looked hard at Hero. In a staticky, almost indecipherable way, he choked out, "Once earn the weapon, never be the same."
Hero nodded briefly, smiling. Of course. I'll have all the power in the world after this!
~o~O~o~
The world generated before Hero's eyes. It seemed like no one else had ever been there before, it was so lifeless and desolate. Tentatively, he took a step. The first step towards success.
The Enderdragon seemed to be dozing at the centre of four massive obsidian towers. Suddenly, Hero felt uncertain. Never in the tales had they said exactly what to do - always one tale from the next had something different in the midst.
He settled on the first one he knew. Somehow, if he dug up some endstone, he would then have to conquer the Enderdragon, and to spare the Enderdragon's life, the Enderdragon would have to turn the endstone into obtainable bedrock. Seems simple enough. Why hadn't anyone else ever tried this?
The Enderdragon opened its eyes. Hero stumbled back, caught off guard. He had been hoping that he would surprise it - not the other way around. He unsheathed his obsidian sword, and just a few days ago, he was thinking about how unstoppable he had been with it. The obsidian sword paled in comparison to the Enderdragon's venomous fangs and claws.
In a swift movement, the Enderdragon was merely twenty blocks away, and Hero felt like he was being sized up like a puny piece of prey. "You dare defy me?"
Hero tried to stab at the Enderdragon as he got closer, but when the blade made contact with the scaly skin, it just stopped. The iron sword cracked from the hilt, rendering the blade completely useless. He wanted to cry out in fear, but he was found frozen, unable to move or make noise.
"I know who you are. You're Notch's brother. One of them, but the other one is so useless it can barely be counted." Hero winced winced at the way he spoke about Steve so matter-of-factly. How did he know about Notch?
"If only each and every one of you knew your futures...
