I saw you standing there,

in the cold darkness of the night.

Glowing beneath the light of the neon,

Hair like silk, so dark and long,

eyes so bright and friendly.

Standing beside your bed,

Several nights later.

I gaze down at you,

Sleeping soundly,

eyes closed, and snoring softly.

I fight the urge to touch your skin,

to run my fingers through your hair.

I want you to know that I exist,

That I love you with burning passions.

But you cringe away from me,

Frightened, behind your barking dog.

I keep trying and trying,

To tell you that I want you to be mine.

I pull you in close, ignoring your cries,

inhaling deeply, smelling only lavender.

You continue to fight, but I pay no mind.

You will be mine,

forever and always.
