The Beautiful Heart

Her|before

I laid awake

staring out at the stars 

shining brightly outside

defeating the darkness 

and travelling to me every night 

from a galaxy million of miles away.

My eyes stung with tears 

my heart ached with loss 

and my mind filled with the thoughts 

that I couldn't seem to kick out

The hospital's hostile smell filled the air

and its rooms were gloomy.

all of it just swirled around in my head

adding to the pain that i bottle up inside of me.

I was so scared of telling him.

of letting him go.
