Chapter Two-Realization

|•|Avi's POV- 10.30am

I rubbed the area between my eyes as my hands combed the scalp of my head. My green eyes gazed around the room to face the two adults in pure exasperation and disbelieve.

A shaking Jeremy stood at the corner, shaking like a leaf. At his foot, seated with her legs crossed, was a little girl with long jet-black locks and beautiful brown eyes. She was wearing a little pink shirt and fiddling with Jeremy's shoe laces and giggling with one finger in her mouth. By his legs was a dog carrier with a familiar looking husky inside.

I turned to face Alex. The man stood uncertainly with a whirlpool of emotions pasted on his face as he juggled trying to cradle a small toddler in his arms. He had a short brownish head of hair and sparkling hazel eyes, in a green jumper, as he peered down sadly at the other child at Alex's ankles. Pale blue eyes blinked sadly as the second toddler, clad in blue stood up and gazed up at his companion hugging at Alex's ankles and whimpering.

"Hey! More friends!" The now child Kevin smiled and wriggled about in my arms excitedly.

In a daze, I let the boy down and just stared at the new comers and their toddlers.

I stared and stared.

I had seen many things in my life. From the biggest bearded lizard in the wild to the President of the country. All I was missing was seeing a real dragon.

But never in my 26 years of life have I seen this.

Kevin was ruffling the blond hair of the toddler that was at the foot of Alex and hugging him tightly. The smaller toddler whined louder and tried to push him away. There was no doubt in that familiar scowl and that pale blue eyes that was now shimmering in frustration.

It was Scott.

A 3"5 Scott.

The pounding in my head increased ten-fold.

And seeing that Alex had another child in his arms that was so very scrawny and tiny I knew instinctively that it was baby Mitch. Alex gasped and looked appalled at Kevin child-handling his former boyfriend and tried to help but the moment he allowed his hand to slip from Mitch's back, the little tod would let out a squeak of disapproval.

"Jeremy.." I struggled to keep my voice calm as I tried not to stare at the little girl whom I had a strange gut feeling that it was Kirstin...

"That is Kirstie right?"

All I got was a frightened nod as the poor man's face paled like the color of a sheet.

There was no doubt about it. My shaken brain put the puzzle pieces together and clicked slowly.

My best friends are now babies.

Nothing to panic about right?

"Hello! Avi!" the child chirped happily, bouncing on the soft couch he was on. He was clad in a tiny yellow T-shirt and black shorts and looked like he was going to drown with the pillows. He gazed up to me with his eyes and smiled but I simply gawked at him, mouth agape in shell-shocked silence.

This was not possible.

I was still dreaming.

But there was Kevin.

Albeit a smaller, cuter and more innocent Kevin.

A 3"11 Kevin.

"Aviii?" The mini Kevin whinnied, cocked his head to the left questioningly seeing my unresponsiveness. His skin was dark, eyes berry bright as he peered from under the large snapback covering half his face. With a tad bit of impatience, he got up and shifted to jump off the couch. It was as if there was something in me which clicked and got my motor functions running again. I strided up, stretched out my arms and caught the boy before he could trod on the shattered glass bellow.
