Written from a boy's perspective

You're the life, the air, the joy
Yellow is your favorite color
You gave balloons to that little boy
In the middle of summer.
Remember us strolling through the park
Dreaming safely together
You sang of beauty like a lark
Swore we were forever.

I loved the way you read me
Spot me like your favorite color
Your laugh was sweeter than iced tea
In the middle of summer.
Remember us gazing at the stars
Kissing when we saw the moon
It was never "yours" but "ours"
We're lazy, sleep til noon.

I can't remember my name
You call me your favorite color
I belong to your heart, you're the same
In the middle of summer
Remember my hands exploring yours
Fingertips touch, the first time,
My skin was like a ship's oars
Steer me throughout these rhymes.

You're my life, my air, my joy
I am your most favorite color
Don't know why you chose this little boy
To be yours in the summer.
