It's already been a week simula na ng dumating ako sa bahay ni Sir Gilbert at hindi lang pala simpleng bahay its a freaking mansion! Well, what would I expect from a business tycoon in the whole of Asia. I thought that coming here I was accepted to work as a maid or maybe a gardener pero for the whole week na nandito ako I was treated as a guest even lahat ng workers dito worship me like an angel na if something will happen to me they would experience Sir Gilbert's wrath.
Mostly ginagawa ko lang sa mansion ni Sir Gilbert is magbasa ng mga libro sa library at hintayin ang tawag kung kakain na kasama siya. I'm still asking kung anong trabaho ang papasukin ko since I have some debts to settle pero pinag iisipan niya pa daw at bigyan daw sya ng oras pero wala na akong oras mag hintay. I only have three days left from the bank to settle the 10 million debt or else I would go to court.
I was also thinking that if could sir Gilbert can settle the debt sa banko then I could live my life working for him if that's the way but I can't bring it up even if he considers me as his life saver. It would still be wrong for me pero kailangan ko na talaga ng pera.
Ayokong makulong sa bagay na in the first place hindi ko kasalanan, it's not right to carry someone's mistake kahit Tita ko pa siya.
Hindi ako maka focus sa binabasa ko dahil sa 10 million debt ni Tita and how the hell did she have that insane amount as a debt? Anong ginawa niya sa perang yung? Was my parents inheritance not enough para malubog siya sa utang?
While I was busy thinking of my Tita's debt, may maid na pumasok ng library saying that Sir Gilbert is calling for me.
Binaba ko naman ang librong binabasa ko at sinundan ang maid kung nasaan napunta kami sa office ni Sir Gilbert.
"Pumasok lang kayo Miss Stella nasa loob po si Master Silcoln naghihintay sa inyo" sabi ng maid kaya naman nagpasalamat muna ako sa kanya at pumasok.
Nong pumasok ako, I can see na medievial theme ang office when it came to design and to the furnitures. Nakita ko naman si Sir Gilbert na may teacup na hawak and pouring some tea in it.
"Pinatawag nyo daw ako Sir Gilbert?" sabi ko and maybe ito na ang part na he decided kung saan ako mag tatrabaho.
"Come iha, sit here" sabi niya kaya naman maayos akong umupo sa harap niya at tiningnan lang siya na buhusan ang isa pang teacup ng tea at binigay sakin.
"Salamat po" sabi ko at maigi na tinanggap ang tsaa.
"The reason I called you here is because I have something I decided on doing at bago ko sabihin sayo I wanna tell you something first. I have done an investigation and background check on you" sabi ni Sir Gilbert na ikinagulat ko pero pumasok naman sa isip ko na he must did that even if i'm his life saver i'm still a stranger and to see whether I could be trusted or not.
Aside from being a little bit shock, i stayed calm since as far as i know malinis ang background ko. So I stay quiet to let him go on.
"The reason is when I first saw you, I can foresee a potential in you that's why I keep on insisting to give you a reward to have a connection to you. The result of the investigation came yesterday and I don't know what to say regarding what happen to you" sabi niya and I can guess he found out everything pero ngumiti nalang ako sa kanya.
"Since you know me, a very very rich person when I offer a reward to you bakit hindi ka nag request na e clear and debt ng Tita mo na napunta sa iyo?" tanong ni Sir Gilbert sakin.
"I wanted to do that but even if I know you are a very rich person Sir Gilbert and you think of me as a life saver, ayokong isipin mo na I'm a money grabbing person. I was thinking of requesting na e clear mo po sana ang utang na iniwan ng Tita ko then I will work my entire life for you sir. If I just requested it then you could just have settle all my debts and live my life not like before I used to be and will just be a strangers to each other. "sabi ko.
"Instead of being a total stranger, mas pinili mo pang tumanda na may utang na loob sakin. I like how you think little girl so I for what I decided, i'm planning on taking you as my successor" Sabi ni Sir gilbert na ikana-confuse ko.
"Successor?"
"Yes iha, my successor to my entire business, properties, this mansion and to everything I have." sabi ni sir gilbert na ikinabahala at takot ko.
"Sir Gilbert, I appreciate the thought but it's a big responsibility po iyon. Hindi po ako nakapagtapos ng college, i can't consider myself in succeeding such a big responsibility"
"I understand where your coming from iha, but you have me. I will teach you everything I know and will support you. I don't have any relatives connected to me anymore here and I already lost my wife and child. I don't wanna also leave this business since there are a lot of people i'm supporting."
"I wanna take you not just my successor but a daughter as well, I want also to give you a new chance at life iha. Like what I said before, aside from the potential I saw in you I can tell that your a great person." sabi ni sir gilbert and all I can hear is his sincerity in his voice.
Napa iyak nalang ako sa narinig ko.
"All my life, what I dreamed is to live freely and find myself in this world. since upon waking up what greeted me was a life full of pain, insecurities and was shackle in my Aunt's chains. That's why naghirap ako na mag trabaho at mawala sa hawak niya, gusto ko din maalala ang buhay ko bago mangyari ang trahedya sa pamilya ko since till now i'm still feeling lost to what I am. i never expect na there would be a person who I accidentally save na will give me this oppurtunity and to be adopted as daughter as well. I also long for family that well accept me as well. Thank you Sir Gilbert, i can't thank you enough for this opportunity. I will do everything na di po kayo ma di-disappoint sakin" iyak kung sabi and i can feel the old man's hug.
"Don't worry iha, i'm here. You're not alone anymore, I will be always on your side for as long as I can." sabi ni Sir Gilbert while i just cried myself.
After that crying and heartfelt moment, I completely accepted to be his daughter and successor. It was also decided na he will clear the debt and find my Aunt and let her be accountable for all the things she had mistakenly done and starting tomorrow my adoption papers will be process as will as the debts.
The processing of adoption may take a while since they need to find my aunt first.
The next day, I wake up feeling relieve and fresh unlike before na pag gising ko agad is stress na. This is the first that I felt so alive and free, so I quickly fix myself dahil ngayong oras kumakain na ng breakfst si Sir Gilbert. after kung mag ayos, bumaba agad ako at nahabol ko pa sya.
"Good morning Sir Gilbert" medyo nahihiya ko pang sabi since I can't call him Dad dahil hindi pa process ang adoption papers.
"It looks like you slept well iha, I know it may be awkward first but you can start calling me dad from now on" nakangiting sabi ni sir gilbert at binaba niya naman ang newspaper na binabasa niya.
"yes po, d-dad" utal at hiya kung sabi kaya kumuha nalang ako ng makakain ko para takpan ang kahihiyan na nararamdaman ko.
Calling someone as your dad is very strange to me dahil masyadong foreign ang word na ito sakin. I couldn't even remember the person who I called dad before so it's really awkward to call someone who was a stranger before then becoming your family.
Eating breakfast was quite awkward at first pero Sir Gilbert initiated the conversation at nag usap tungkol mostly sakin since i guess he wanted to know more about me kaya nag kwento naman ako tungkol sa mga nangyayari sakin.
After that moment, he also left since he needed to settle things on my side while ako naiwan sa mansion since this coming days I will be busy as well to continue my studies and to be a successor as well.
In my entire day, I just spend my time familiarizing sa mga type of business na hinahandle ni Sir Gilbert and also called me from time to time tungkol sa update sa mga debt collectors and knowing kung ano ang mga nangyayari. A burden is finally lifted in my heart at Sir Gilbert said na baka late na daw sya ng gabi makauwi due to paperworks.
Night came, gaya ng night routine ko simula ng dumating ako sa mansion ni Sir Gilbert which is bago matulog I spend a brief moment standing in the balcony of my room not to enjoy the cold night breeze but to look at the stars.
"Dear, maraming nangyari sakin some were bad and good. Pag may oras na ako ulit, I will come and visit you since marami akong kwento on how I became a girl from rags to riches. Parang teledrama but its true na nangyari sakin to. Pag okay na ang lahat love, I will do what you promise for now I will still hold on"
I never know that after I went to bed that it will be a sleepless night.
