Chapter 1

*Your POV*

I groaned as the annoying buzzing of the alarm clock. I hit it, groaning as I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I blinked, and even after 3 months I still expected to see the light blue walls of my room at home, band posters pasted on the walls, and books laying everywhere. I shook my head as I came back from my daydream, the vision of the room I never thought I'd miss disappearing as the bland furniture of the cheap hotel room I've been living in resurfaces around me, the chipped walls and scratched tables had now became all too familiar to me.

I groaned as I sat up, the springs of the hotel bed squeaking I groaned as I sat up and stretched my arms, cracking my knuckles as I stood up and grabbed the cheap laptop I had bought with the money of my savings from allowances and singing on the street corner after school since Mom and Dad never cared where I was.

I finished the online classes that I enrolled myself in after I forged my Parent's signatures. I sighed as I thought about my so-called parents. Sure they never really cared about me anyway, but the fact they disowned me for being who I am still hurt. Now I didn't have anyone. I tried to push the thoughts away as I grabbed the last of the food in my fridge, which consisted of a container of leftover spaghetti I made a few days ago. I sighed, praying that I'd make enough money playing on the streets today to buy more food. Plus the money I had saved to pay to stay here was running low as well.

I quickly gulped down the slightly stale tasting food, washing it down with a cup of tap water. I wiped my mouth tiredly and grabbed my beat up guitar case, lugging it down the long hallway and down the stairs, since the elevator had been broken for who knows how long.

I sighed as I adjusted the guitar case in my left hand, and attempted to pull my thin jacket closer to my body as the cold air chilled me to the bone. I walked until I found the usual corner that I played at. I quickly looked around to make sure that my brother Mason and his friends weren't skulking around anywhere. He had never liked me much to begin with, and after my parents kicked me out him and his friends would look for me, and beat the crap out of me for fun. I breathed a sigh of relief when I didn't see any of them.

I took out my old beat up guitar and tuned the strings. I felt myself finally relax a little bit, happy knowing that I was doing what I loved. I played a bunch of popular songs, but because of the chill in the air, there weren't many people out and about today. I sighed, my stomach growling. It was already starting to get a little dark, and I was starting to lose hope I'd be able to get lunch.

I sighed as the wind picked up, hugging my thin sweater closer to me. I glanced forlornly at my guitar case, which was almost as empty as it was when I started playing on this corner this morning, save for a handful of change and 2 dollar bills that the few people who passed me gave me. I continued to strum the chords to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" as my stomach growled. I frowned, knowing that vending machine food wasn't going to do much, but it was all I could afford.

After I played and sang the last note, I decided that the next song that I played would be my last. Especially since the air was only getting colder, and my old Track T-shirt, thin sweater, and torn skinny jeans weren't doing much to stop my constant shivering. For about the thousandth time in the last few days I cursed myself for not being able to fit warmer clothes into the small bag I was able to pack before my parents hit and kicked me until I was out of their door.

I tried to calm the shaking in my cold fingers as I placed them on the correct frets to play the next song. I always saved it for last, because it was one of my favorites, and it always made me happy no matter what.

Once I could move my fingers properly I started to play the introduction to "Worth It." by my favorite girl group. I noticed a group of 5 people with darker clothing and hoods pulled over their heads heading down the street, and as soon as I started playing, they stopped and turned their attention to me.
