Chapter 3

I was sitting in the cafeteria along with Melissa. We weren't exactly back to being friends but we did smile at each other. Progress! She was actually eating along with me which was really surprising. She must be real sad to eat during lunch. 

I had seen her and Alden exchanging glances all the time. I don't know when the connection was formed between them but I could clearly see a look of want on Alden.  

Then why the hell did he behave the way he behaved yesterday? 

That's why I preferred being single. Relationships are a pain. One night stands are even more painful especially if you develop feeling for the other person.  

A small voice in my mind said that no one would actually go on a date with me, not that I minded. 

The lunch time passed in the same way.  

I went to the washroom before the lunch got over. I was doing by business when I heard the talk outside. 

'You know Alpha is turning eighteen. He will choose a girl today.' Girl number 1 gushed. Who was the alpha and choose a girl for what? 

'I know I'm so excited! I wonder who will be the lucky female. Gosh I hope it's me.' Girl number 2 went on. 

'Hey I want to be her but we can share.' Share what? These girls are making no sense. Whatever! Who cares what and who they are talking about?

When I returned from the loo, I spotted Easton in the parking lot along with Alden and Xavier. I called out his name and went to talk to him.

'Listen Eugene, I need marks. The only reason you are paired with me is because you are brainless and you need marks to pass. Do both of us a favor and don't show up till I tell you to. I'll complete it on my own and just make sure you are with me when I give the final draft.' 

After I finished my speech I expected him to be insulted or make some remark or at least scoff, but to my surprise and shock I didn't get any of them. So I just turn and walk away. 

I thought that if he felt insulted, he might take up on his huge ego and make a decision of contributing to the project. That so didn't happen!  

The guy wasn't even looking at me. He was staring at my lips the whole freaking time. Since when did jocks like Easton start showing interest in me! As I was walking I heard a growl of "mine" by Easton. Stupid guy! 

Time for plan B....

 When school got over, Easton was still in the parking lot. God! what does he do here all the time? Clean it ?  

He was there with his friends when I called out to him. Again. 

'Can I talk to you Easton?'  

'Yaa sure.' He seemed happy when I asked that to him. 

'Before you say anything, I want to tell you that I want to help you in this project. No wait, I have to do this project with you since we are partners and I can't let you do all the work.' Wasn't that supposed to be my line? 

'Yaa sure.' I replied and started speed walking. What happened was super weird. Since when did Easton start studying?  

'Neveah?' I heard Easton call out my name.  

'Yes,' I urged him to continue. 'Have a good day ahead.' He was smiling so wide that I almost fainted. 

'Thank you.'
