~ONE WEEK LATER~

Mark looked over his shoulder out his car window for what felt like the thousandth time. His stomach seemed to be in an eternal knot, like he was going to be sick.

"It just doesn't make sense," he said to himself,

"We always lock everything."

He rounded the corner, crossing by the freeway opening. Passing through there would extend his ride home by about thirty minutes.

He looked at himself in the rear view mirror. Mark's eyes had developed dark circles, and the pink in his hair was fading.

"I look like I feel," he laughed heavily,

"Like shit."

Right as he said this, his phone rang. He glanced down, fearfully, then sighed when he realized it was just Seen.

"Hey babe," he said, putting his phone on speaker,

"What's up?"

Sean didn't respond. The only sound Mark heard was breathing.

He Listened for any Other sound, then spoke again.

"Hello?"

"Mark," Sean whispered,

"I think there's someone in the house."

Mark's blinked, watching the road.

"What?"

Sean Breathed in heavily, held the silence, then exhaled.

"I said," he shook, "I think there's someone in the house."

The line clicked off.

"Sean? SEAN," Mark yelled. He tried to call him back.

"Son of a-" he screamed. He pushed his bubblegum hair out of his face, then turned the car around.

As he began to drive back, his phone rang again. Sean.

"Babe, talk to Me. Are you Okay?"

Again, breathing.

"Sean, talk to Me," he said. Mark's mocha eyes darkened, his foot all but smashing through the floor.

"Mark."

Mark breathed a sigh of relief, then felt a pang of fear again.

"I'm in the bedroom with the door locked. Knock three times on it when you get here. I think they're in the basement."

"And Mark?"

"Yes Sean?" Mark asked, biting back tears.

"Please get home soon."
