Welcome to One Story Road and the Many Voices Book Project, offering a free form essay contest for anyone and everyone. Aiming to produce a book of a select few true stories we all can identify with and relate to, it will be composed of your non-fiction stories submitted by you and others to the project. The crowd-sourced final book will be of the stories selected by you and the world's votes, bringing forth the universal threads that will bind the book. One Story Road is about listening to everyone's voice loud and soft, anonymous or not, and creating equal space for them all to be heard.

By amplifying them all to the same frequency in order to discover the stories that reveal our global roots and in finding those stories that cross-over lines on the map intertwining us all, we will shape the final book together. Seeking to hear the common string that resonates with in us all, the Many Voices book project is a way to explore the spaces and unseen matter intertwining all of us. You're invited to share your stories in your own creative way using words, images and sound, with the option for anonymity or not. In the end the only goal being to share our timeless stories for others to connect with.

In order to unearth this book hopefully forged by the world's voices, One Story Road announces an international story contest. With your help the Many Voices book project will be the first collaborative book of its kind, shaped on a global scale. One comprised of many voices and perspectives all together in one thought, travelling down One Story Road.

The contest invites stories of any subject or background that follow the basic theme which is, stories that people from all corners of the world can identify with and relate to. There will be up to 30 finalist entries chosen in total, voted on by the global public, equalling 1 finalist chosen per round, that will make it to the final Review and Selection Process. An independent panel will make the selections of the best and most potentially consequential 20 submissions.

Created and proposed by artist Caleb Beal, One Story Road's first spark began at, Off The Beaten Path a coffee shop in Steamboat Springs, CO. The idea of OSR was inspired by NPR's National Story Project. NPR's project, started by Paul Auster, collected stories from people all across the nation and read them on-air. Deeply moved by the stories people had told quickly grew into a passion to create a book that would continue in that thought.

Taking that idea to the global stage and using everyone's perspective to find the unique stories that connect us all was the concept that the Many Voices book project sprouted from. From that goal OneStoryRoad.com was created to aid the project and give a place where people could continue to share their stories. Built to be an open stage to anyone and everyone, sharing anonymously or not, OSR is for the stories and experiences of the world around us. Offering a way of exploring it all through our words. images and sound, in turn mapping out the connections between them all at One Story Road.

With little means and years of time the pieces were slowly put together to form OneStoryRoad. Many hands took part in paving it brick by brick, but it's the many voices along the road that that give it heart and truly make the journey amazing and unique. With a mission to empower people with their own voice, realizing the value and importance of their stories, our goal is to bring them all together as ONE VOICE. ONE STORY. ONE ROAD.

How It Works:

Any one can submit entries, anonymously or not, of stories they think people will identify with and relate to. Every entry is recored at OneStoryRoad.com and represented by pins on a map. Then anyone can visit the author's story page and if they find that it resonates with them they can add their vote for its addition to the final book.

Users can submit as many entries as they want and keep the rights to all their stories submitted, even if they get published in the final book. Voters can vote for as many different stories as they want, but only one vote per story.

To select the multiple stories for the final book there will be 30 rounds of voting. Each round selects a winner to be entered in the final round where an independent panel will choose the top stories for the book based on merit, creativity, and relativity to contest theme. In each round the highest vote count at end of the cycle is entered in the final judging round.

Voting total are reset at the beginning of each round and voting of the next finalist entry begins. Stories in round one that are left over are automatically entered in round two. Same as round two stories that are left over automatically go in round three, three rolls over to round four and so on. Stories can be added to the rounds at anytime throughout the entire project, but keep in mind the earlier you enter the better chances you have of getting in the final book.

A total of 20 stories of the 30 that are voted into final round will get published in final book. Artist Caleb Beal will travel to meet with all finalists and compose still images to go with the author's work creating the book's final copy. Authors with anonymous identities will retain their anonymity throughout the entire project, only to be revealed to project staff bound under Legal suppression order to not disclose any relative information.
