"Ok, good. I was about to head out there now."

"Ok, well I'll go ahead and get some started then!" He exclaimed. Grabbing another bottle, he headed back to the ballroom area of his house. Colt had hired a professional DJ as usual, so the music was done very well. After talking with the DJ for a moment, he nodded to what ever it was that Colt told him.

I looked around for Selena but didn't seem to see her anywhere. The music transitioned as I realized that Colt had started a line dance. So I waited off to the side in the meantime. Finally, I saw Selena walking in with Nicole so I made my way towards their direction.

They were dancing to one of the songs when Selena decided to spin around. As she did so, she coincidentally spun right into me.

"Oh! Sorry, Jake!" She shouted over the music.

Smiling to keep my self from laughing, I said, "Don't worry, it's fine."

"It's about time you joined the party!" Nicole yelled towards me.

"Well, I came here to dance! So let's do it!" I shouted back.

We danced to quite a few songs. I have never had so much fun dancing in my entire life. I felt like I had gotten a work out from all the laughing and dancing we were doing. As we were becoming tired, the music began to slow down a bit as it transitioned to a slower song.

Nicole practically breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm going to go get something to drink. All this dancing is making me dehydrated."

"Ok, hurry back!" Selena exclaimed.

Listening to the slow music, I got an idea.

Bowing illustriously, I pretended to act proper.

"Shall we?" I stated as held my hand out to her.

She chuckled lightly, but cleared her throat as she pretended to act in character.

Placing her hand in mine, she said, "We shall," before breaking character as we both chuckled.

With her hand in mine, she wrapped her other arm across my shoulder as I placed my hand on her hip. It wasn't awkward at all. I mean, we've slow danced before with no problems because we are just that close.

Nevertheless, my heart was pounding. I half hoped she couldn't hear it as I attempted to maintain my normal confidence.

This would normally be where we would laugh and make jokes while we danced. However, neither of us spoke a word. As I looked down, I found Selena was looking at me as I gazed into her beautiful green eyes.

It wasn't the music I was hearing anymore, but rather my own beating heart. I sighed, hoping that would alleviate some of my nervousness.

Wide-eyed, Selena questioned, "Is something wrong?"

Shaking my head lightly, I said, "No, you are just so breathtaking." I half intended it to be a clever joke, but I was partly telling the truth.

Her face began to turn the most adorable shade of pink. "Whatever," she verbalized softly.

"No, I mean it," I attempted to be confident simply to cover the fact that I was shaking inside.

Smiling, she avoided my eyes and looked down before commenting, "Well, thank you."

On impulse, I moved my hand to the side of her face as I moved one of the loose curls covering her face.

"Much better," I smiled as her face was no longer hidden from me.

Slowly, we stopped dancing as we maintained our gaze on each other. I was going to say something to her, but I couldn't even tell you what it was if I tried.

I never expected that Selena would surprise me as she kissed my lips with such tenderness and sweetness. Upon pulling back, her eyes grew wide in shock, as I looked at her in a daze.

"... I'm sorry," she muttered as she began to walk away from me.

"Wait, Selena!" I called after her, shaking myself from the trance I was in.

'Was all of this real? Did that really just happen?'

I wanted to go after her, but I figured it was probably better to give her some space.

Thankfully, Trevor never interrupted for the rest of the night. I think I also saw Colt and Allison talking at some point, so they seemed to have hit it off.

The party was great and I truly did have a great time. As I headed home though, I couldn't stop thinking about Selena's kiss.

She kissed me, but then she ran off. After that, I didn't see her again for the rest of the night. Normally, she would have atleast said goodbye to me.

'I just don't want things to be awkward between us.' I pondered as I finally made it back home after this crazy night.
