Chapter 14 - The Death Of Love

Start from the beginning

"It was... you're movie." He said. "You'd be the only survivor and they'd make a sequel." Mickey continued to explain as Kali swallowed back a lump in her throat. "You deserve a movie. I had to give you a..."

"Shhh." Kali hushed him before placing a kiss on his forehead, but when she went to pull back he cupped her cheek and pulled her to his lips one last time, this time when she pulled back his eyes were closed and he didn't move.

"Please." Kali whispered desperately, her vision beginning to blur as she looked up from the ground where she lay helplessly on her back, Stu hovering over her with a knife coated in her own blood resting in his hand. "Stu..." She pleaded.

"I'm sorry, babe. I was trying to avoid this, but you've seen me now. Why didn't you just leave with the others? You were supposed to leave!" He raised his voice, looking down at her. Stu took a step forward before kneeling down next to his slowly bleeding out girlfriend. He ran the tip of the razor sharp blade along her bottom lip as he lightly shook his head. "It wasn't meant to be this way."

"You..." Kali tried to speak, but her breathing was ragged and broken, her own blood beginning to fill her left lung, "Tatum." She could say no more, but she didn't need too. Stu knew what it was she was trying to get out.

"That was Billy, not me - you were with me when he killed her." He defended himself as if it was meant to make everything better. "I am sorry, but it had to happen. Tatum never liked me; you know that. If she didn't die, I would have been the first person she accused along with Billy." Stu sighed before speaking again. "I'm sorry, baby."

Stu smiled, not his normal goofy adorable smile that Kali had fallen in love with, but a strange weak one that almost made him look upset. He leant down further, placing a final kiss on her lips as a goodbye and then pulled back the tiniest bit to look into her eyes. It was then that she drove the shard of glass she had been hiding in her skirt through the side of his neck.

Stu's eyes went wide in surprise and disbelief as he fell backwards away from her. He scrambled back, desperately trying to stop the bleeding coming from his neck, but it was pointless. Kali's knowledge of horror movies and her biology classes had paid off. She had hit his Carotid Artery.

Stu fell to the side, one arm outstretched reaching for her as Kali's head weakly fell to the side to look back at him. There was no hate in his eyes, she had done the same thing he was about to do, the same thing he had done previously... killed. If anything, among his shock and slightly heartbroken look, there was pride.

It made her sick, but nonetheless her arm reached out as their fingers interlocked. He squeezed back, his eyes never leaving hers until finally his grip went limp and Kali watched as his life was literally drained out of him. It was only after Stu was dead that she felt herself drift into unconsciousness just as she heard a gun shot fire from another room in the house and Gale's voice.

"I guess I remembered the safety that time, you bastard."

"So sweet." Mrs Loomis stated. "Now, get up Kali and don't even think about reaching for that gun." Mrs Loomis ordered.

Kali slowly got to her feet as Mrs Loomis gestured for Sidney to join her friend and then started to walk towards the two, backing them away from Mickey's body so she could then pick up the other gun.

"Oh, Mickey was a good boy, but, my god, that whole blame the movies motive. Did you buy that for one second? Poor boy was completely out of his mind." She said, giving Mickey a kick to make sure he was dead, as if that actually did anything.

"And you're not?" Sidney asked.

"No, I'm completely sane. My motive isn't as 90's as Mickey's. Mine is just good old fashioned revenge. You killed my son!" She accused. "And now I kill you. And I can't think of anything more rational. I was going to let Mickey have his way and let you live, Kali, after all you did help Billy out so many times when you were kids, but now you've seen me."

"You're never going to get away with this." Kali stated.

"Of course I will. Everything's traceable back to Mickey. Including the cop gun he used to kill everybody. But let's just suppose that you..." She turned to Sidney, "had gotten hold of the other cop's gun and you chased Mickey. And there was a big shoot-out and a big scuffle and you shot Mickey, killed Mickey dead... but not before he got off one shot at you. Okay. So, have I covered everything? Are there any questions, any comments? You know what, though? Who gives a flying fuck anyway? Let 'em try and track down the second possible killer. Debbie Salt doesn't exist."

"You're as crazy as your son was." Sidney shot back at her.

"What did you just say? Was that a negative, disparaging remark about my son? About my Billy?"

"No, Billy was a good boy." Kali found herself saying sarcastically.

"Billy was perfect. You did a bang-up job, Mrs Loomis." Sidney added.

"Not wise to patronise me with a gun, girls. Randy spoke poorly of Billy, and I got a little knife-happy." She clarified. For same reason Kali felt somewhat relieved that is wasn't Mickey who had killed Randy.

As Mrs Loomis back the girls into a wall, Kali felt her hands touch a glass bottle that had been felt behind by the brothers when they tied up Derek.

"I was a good mother." Mrs Loomis began. "You know what makes me sick? I'm sick to death of people saying that it's all the parents fault." Mrs Loomis pressed the gun under Sidney's chin, getting closer to her and for the moment ignoring Kali. "You wanna blame someone? Why don't you blame your mother? She's the one who stole my husband and broke up my family. And then you took my son!"

Kali wrapped her hand around the bottle and smashed it over Mrs Loomis' head before shoving her back. Sidney and Kali both made a brake for the side door, but Debbie grabbed hold of Kali's foot, tripping her up and sending her crashing to the ground.

Kali looked up and saw Sidney turning to help her friend, but she stopped her.

"No! Run! The axe backstage!" Kali yelled and Sidney nodded, continuing to run to find the weapon.

Kali rolled onto the back to see that Mrs Loomis was still half recovering from her head wound as she tried to stand. Kali quickly got to her feet and immediately thought 'what would Tatum do?' Using a move that Dewey had taught both of his sisters years ago, Kali kicked her leg out and drove the heel of her foot as hard as she could into Debbie's chest as the older women grunted from being winded.

Kali turned to run after Sidney, but once again Debbie ran after her, grabbed the side of her head and slamming it into one the set poles. Kali gripped the side of her head briefly, her vision blurring for a moment as Debbie took the opportunity to raise her gun and fire, the bullet ripping through Kali's left shoulder as she slammed back into the pole from the impact and her legs gave out before she fell to her back.

Debbie stumbled and leant down over her, having a concussion herself, but still having enough strength to slam Kali's head hard into the ground one last time.
