KAMILAH

It's huge. Am I ready? Am I sure I'm prepared for the next chapter in my life? Or should I skip this one...

A million thoughts raced through my head as my family walked with me to my new school. My new college.

Louisiana State University. The college where one of my favorite movies, Pitch Perfect was filmed. And the school that makes amazing athletes. Which is perfect for me, since I got a full ride scholarship for dancing. Yep. I'm a dancer. I don't do ballet or tap or nothing, though. I'm more of a hip-hop, majorette kind of girl.

I snapped back to reality as I finally approached the room I would be calling home for a while. I looked around. It was pretty big. It had a bathroom, a little area with counters and a fridge, and the main area with beds and desks. My roommate already was here, seeing that she made the room homey. Not complaining, though. Her side of the room was neatly decorated, her bed perfectly made with the right amount of cute pillows. She also had a lot of pictures hanging up, with some words and lights around them. And, she also had her desk ready for the school year. Thank you lawd for not giving me some messy hoe.

Now all I'm hoping for is for her personality to match her decorating. We haven't met yet; we found each other on this roommate match that LSU provides. We're both athletic (she runs track) and we're both hella woke so I'm sure we'll get along.

"Damn, she is fine!" My twin brother, Trey said. He looked at all her pictures before turning around and smiling. "And I don't see no boy in any pics, so look like shorty single."

I rolled my eyes and looked at my plain side of the room. Set up just like my roommates, with a bed and a desk. Just needs to be decorated.

"This is so sad, I can't believe my baby is leaving!" My mom exclaimed, coming over and hugging me. I hugged her tightly. This women has been through so much with and for me, I'm sad to see her go, too. I kissed her cheek, and told her I would call first thing tomorrow. She and my older sisters immediately started putting up my decorations. My dad was next, and he hugged me tightly.

"I love you, baby. And I'll miss you." I hugged my dad, tightly. He was my number one influence, my best friend. I'm definitely a daddy's girl. I thank them everyday for being such great parents, even though they not together anymore.

Next was my brother. After he was done checking out my roommate's pictures, he hugged me. Trey is my only biological sibling, and we were really close. He's 20 minutes older than me, but we were born on different days, if that makes sense. He also plays basketball for the Carolina Tarheels. Sports kinda run in the family.

I then said goodbye to my older sisters. They were all half: Kayla's from my mom and Jayda and India are from my dad, but our bond is and always has been unbreakable. I could never ask for better sisters. They kinda remind me of the Kardashian sisters, except all their curves and shit are real (no hate, I love the Kardashians). Two are dating rappers, and Kayla's with a NFL player. They're all moms, too. Jayda is expecting her first soon, India's got one daughter and another baby on the way, and Kayla has three troublemakers. My niece and nephews are my world though.

"Your calling us everyday," Jayda said, hugging me. Me and her were the closest.

"Jayda, you know that girl is gonna be too busy partying to have time calling your moody ass everyday," India joked. Her and Jayda went back and fourth, arguing over who was the moodiest since both were pregnant.
