He grabbed her hand, and made his way outside.
He knew he was going to get into trouble for skipping classes, but who cared about that?
She didn't say anything as they walked towards someplace she didn't know, as the grip on her hand loosened a little.
She realized that she hadn't been paying attention to where they were going, as he came to an abrupt stop in the middle of a green maze. The entire place was covered in bright green grass, and whoever spent long enough staring got around to a good mood for the rest of the week.
"Do you remember this place?" He asked.
"No." She shrugged.
"Well," he took a deep breath, "this is where we first met. You were out with your friends, as I was with mine.
We ended up playing hide and seek here, and we bumped into each other right at this spot.
I still haven't forgotten the look of surprise on your face.
We came here for our first date, too, remember? You wore an oversized Rangers jersey, saying that you couldn't bear acting girly just for a date." He smiled.
"I don't remember having hated that." Her reply came in a harsh manner.
Suddenly, she had changed.
"I know you do." His voice had softened, as if he was trying to reach out to her.
Silence followed.
"When did we become like this?" He asked.
"We never were anything in the first place." She responded.
"Hyojin-ah, I know that isn-"
"I know exactly what to feel. I can control my feelings. I can keep a safe distance from everyone, and as long as I'm careful, I can't break." She said.
"What if you already are?"
She turned around to leave, as his arms wrapped around her waist in a momentary hug.
"I can be your cello tape, okay? I can sing you a lullaby at night when you can't fall asleep. I can carry your burdens with you and be there to listen."
Tears had made their way to both their eyes, even though neither was ready to give in.
"Then, why did you leave me all alone when I needed you the most?"
With that, she went away.
She hadn't forgotten the note she had found in her locker. She was supposed to have surgery. It was supposed to cure all the nightmares. All the pain.
Dear Hyojin,
I'm sorry but I can't do this anymore. I figured out that we can't be together because of all our differences. I hope you will find someone better than me. I know you will.
I'm sorry I couldn't go with you to doc's, but I suggest you tell your friends, as they can help too. Maybe a proffesional. And you should really tell your family, okay?
Anyhow, it's been happy between us always, and I don't want us to drift apart or stop talking, so let's be good friends from now on, yes?
Forever your friend,
Jung Hoseok.
Was it all that?
Had she dreamt it all?
She was the heartbroken one. She was the one who had taken meds everyday, just because she couldn't control her mental state. She was the one who had been suffering all on her own. She had been the one to trust him enough to tell him about her.....sickness. She had been the one to blindly fall for his promise of being there forever.
She had been the one to turn off any real emotions left inside of her. She had been the one who had gotten rid of her heart and let it go.
And yet....
Why had he returned?
Why was he saying he loved her?
Why was he confusing her?
Why was he lying to her all over again?
