The sun was setting. Brad was getting desperate, the shadows hunkered behind, moving silently, waiting for the sun to set, the entire area was abandoned, and in re-development. Too many missing people. The sun set. And the shadows took on different forms, a 9 year old girl, and old man, dogs, cats, and at the centre, with its eyes blazing red, was their origin, Jared, standing, watching, as the horde consumed the Medic and took his form, and the enforcer's feeble attempt to force them back. Finally, as they neared the entrance, he delivered his ace. Arming every weapon on his body, the enforcer threw himself forward, and sacrificed himself in a large ball of UV light as the lethal weapons also detonated. The helo-carrier was gone, but the transmit tower was not. The enforcer's last actions gave him probably 2 minutes before he would be nothing but a formless creature, an unwilling servant to a terrifying beast.

He sent out the distress call, hoisted Millie up on his right arm, and ran for the nearest building. He was in luck, the lights were still working and, though they were just normal lights, they were a useful means of protection. The plaque read J.J Hansen safeguard. It looked like a mental institution. Millie was waking up, and as Brad banged the door shut behind them she jolted to full attention.

"Mills! Thank goodness you're ok! I need help, I can't hold them off any longer."

Just as he finished his sentence, the first tendrils crept around the door, Brad covered his wife with his body, trembling as he neared his end. Millie kept muttering something about her baby.

Millie hated seeing Brad like this, but she was stuck in a loop. She couldn't break out, she could only walk and mutter. But as she walked through the corridor, a memory jolted her out of her stupor. This same hallway was once used as a route to a holding cell, tight locks; nothing could escape, not even light.

Just as Brad began to despair, Millie spoke; "turn right." He didn't hesitate, but suddenly, as he saw what awaited them, he wished he had, a solitary door, which stood out amongst the others provided him with a dead-end. Suddenly she pushed him to the side; Jared had become one large ominous cloud, and did not stop but rather, flew straight through the door. Millie, shut the door, flicked on several switches, and made sure it was locked. She turned back towards Brad and in a calm voice said: "let's get out of here".
