Hours had pasted since dinner. His siblings had long gone. And yet he was sitting in the parlor, waiting. He was no fool. He knew the girl would try something. It had been a week.

And throughout the week all she had done was look. Examine.

He recognized a look of pure devious intent when he saw one. He had a lecherous twin brother after all.

He sighed, boredom setting in as he stood from the chair he had been sitting in. He stretched his limbs out. His mother and father had taken to bed soon after everyone else had left. He was glad for it. He hoped that hey would continue to sleep, as he intended to confront the woman.

He ran a hand through his hair just as he heard an unfamiliar rattling. He turned on his heel swiftly. A smile frown forming across his lips. The little fool was actually breaking in!

He scowled as he realized that he would have to have her arrested. He understood that times were hard but he did not condone stealing from those who have worked hard to earn what was theirs. Especially if those being robbed were members of his family.

He pulled the parlor door open and quietly made his way toward the rattling noise. He stayed hidden, watching as the door slid open. The girl tiptoed inside, her eyes widening at her surroundings. As she gently closed the door behind her he really looked at her.

She was tall. Her hair was straight but seemed as if it would be nothing sort of extremely coarse. Her skin the color of melted caramel, her lips pink and plump. Her lashes short, framing a pair of dark mysterious eyes. The dress she had on was old fashioned, the skirt an unseemly beige color and the corset styled top white. The dress was wrapped around her legs, helping her tiptoe around.

He smirked at that. She was clever. Too clever to be a thief.

He decided to let her explore a bit but in all honesty he just wanted to look at her a bit longer. She was beautiful. It was too bad that he would have to have her arrested.

She moved toward the parlor and he followed behind her, staying quiet.

And then it began, she started rummaging through cabinets, her hands sliding over bottles of liquor and expensive glasses. She grabbed a few of the wine glasses, sticking them into a large pocket sewn into the front of her skirt.

He smile broadened. She was clever indeed. He allowed her to walked through most of the first floor, rummaging and snatching what she found valuable. It wasn't until she eyed the stairs that he stopped her.

"I think you've taken enough." Aiden said, catching her completely off guard. She shrieked, turning to look at him.

Her heart was pounding. As he stepped out from where he had been hiding her eyes widened. Good, god...she had never seen a man so handsome. She took a step back as he got closer. "If you put everything back, I'll let you go without sending you to the authorities."

She frowned at his words. The last thing she was afraid of was an idle threat from a man with a pretty face. "Will you? You'll have to catch me first."

He raised a brow before smirking at her. They stared at each other for a moment, it was as if thunder were exploding within them.

He didn't say another word, moving toward her. She jumped away from his attempt to catch her and sprinting down the hall. She had no intentions of being caught or thrown into jail. She was a fast runner. She was agile.

She knew herself well enough to knew she would make it out unscathed, at least that's what she thought.

Aiden caught a handful of her skirt, yanking her back. She stumbled forward, much of what she had stolen spilling from her full pockets. She slapped against his chest, knocking the wind out of herself.

"I'll give you one more opportunity." He said against her ear. She shivered. Even his voice was...she shook of the weird feeling she felt bubbling in the pit of her stomach.

She gained her composure quickly. She had never been caught before. Nor had anyone ever been able to match her speed. "Let go of my skirt!" She hissed between her gritted teeth.

She heard him chuckling behind her and scowled. He was making her angry. She turned around, catching him slightly off guard. He moved back, his grip on her skirt tightening. She pushed him and he fell backward, pulling her down with him. She squealed as she landed on top of him.

She was simply winded, the impact stealing her breath. She sucked in a big breath of air before freezing as she realized that he was watching her. His eyes were the lightest brown she had ever seen. And they were boring into her as he could see her sinful soul. She found herself stuck, glued on top of him. Staring back down at him. For a long moment they lay on the floor, frozen in the other's gaze.

Until she blinked. What was she doing? What was he doing to her?

She placed a hand on his handsome face and hefted herself up. He groaned, cursing underneath his breath as he cupped his nose.

She struggled up but once she was secure on her feet she made a break for the door, only to be pulled back. She was on the verge of screaming in frustration. Did the man never give up?

"They are mine now!" She snapped.

He raised a brow. "Stealing does not make something yours."

She flung herself around and raised her hand to slap him away but he caught her wrist. "It's not wise for a lady to steal."

She huffed in utter exasperation. "I'm far from a lady."

"I beg to differ." He said softly.

The gleam in his eyes was almost blinding and she gasped. She may not be a lady but she'd be damned if she were to become a whore! She raised her free hand and slapped him square across the cheek, catching him completely off guard.

He stepped back at the assault, cupping his cheek. He had never been slapped by a woman before and it shocked him. He was suddenly angry but his anger was replaced with a sudden urge to pull the unremorseful little thief into his arms and kiss her senseless.

She stepped back then and once again attempted to run for the door. But again he caught, this time wrapping his arms around her waist, twisting her around to face.

Just as she opened her mouth to protest, he kissed her. His tongue delving into her parted lips, tasting her. She froze in shock. How dare he? She thought as she placed her hands on his shoulders trying to push him away.

He didn't even budge. His kisses growing firmer, more intense. She felt weak in the knees, her stomach erupting in a fit of pleasurable tingles. She attempted to push him away once more before melting, allowing him to kiss her with wanton desire.

It wasn't until he groaned against her mouth that she finally wretched her lips away. Her anger simmering to the forefront of her mind.

She pushed away from him and her let her go. She wiped at her lips with the back of her hand. Glaring at the man before her. "Oh fine!" She snapped. "You can have your worthless things back!"

She reached into her pockets and pulled out the remainder of the valuables in her pocket, tossing them at his head. He dodged before realizing that she was running for the door and out of his reach.

She ran out of the door, leaving it open behind her.

He licked his lips, glancing down at the things spilled across the floor. He sighed as he reached down to clean up the mess but glanced toward the door, disappointment in his heart.

He silently hoped that he would see her again as he closed the door.
