Kai Shimada x Reader: Like Nobody's Around

So, I was looking through my old chapters and literally, I was grinning like an idiot..I forgot that I wrote those chapters :p

(Y/N) (L/N), a girl most known for being the best student in the whole generation and yet being the most quiet out of all of them.

(Y/N)'s personality was unknown due to her poker face and lack of social attention. But only one guy knew everything about her...Kai Shimada.

Want you to cry,

Kai tried his best to keep your secrets unknown to the students at Byakudan but it was hard since everyone had to say something about you.

"Ne, (Y/N). Why don't you want other people to know more about you?" Kai randomly asks, making you stop scrolling your phone and turning the radio down a little so you could hear him.

"I just don't want to get hurt.." You say with a smile on your face, a real smile.

Want you to shout,
at the top of your lungs about
all our favorite songs, so loud.
We'll be singing along,
even if they hate that.

"..But never mind that, you shouldn't worry about it!" You pull him up from the couch by his hand. "Let's dance." You say excitedly and turn the radio back on. The night was filled with fun and laughter, probably one of your bests with him. But even tho you answered his question, he still didn't find himself to understand.

Turn up the radio,
so what if we lose control?

Everyday it would be like that, you would go to school, and later, you would hangout at Kai's house. Your parents always allowed since they knew Kai's parents from when you were both kids. That was probably the main reason for why you even met Kai. He knew all of your sides, your sad one, your angry one and the one he loved to see most, the happy one.

So throw your hands in the air,
c'mon and make this count.
It's only you and me, never mind this crowd.
Do they way you do it, do it like nobody's around.

He knew all about your favorite songs, about your dream to be a rock-star. He loved how ambitious you were when he would ask about anything related to the future. But what he didn't understand was why you weren't so open-minded in public. So Kai decided to help you change that.

It doesn't really matter if it's wrong or right.

"Yo, (Y/N)!" You heard Kai yelled as he walked into the classroom and you instantly cover yourself up with the book you were reading.

"Can you come outside for a bit, babe?" You immediately blush as he took your hand and took you outside the classroom. You clearly remembered telling him not to talk to you at school and slightly got annoyed that he ignored that.

"What do you want Kai?" You ask him with a hint of annoying-ness in your voice.

"Don't be like that, (Y/N). I'm trying to help you out.." He says slightly disappointed in your reaction to seeing him.

"Fine...what do you want.."

Don't hesitate,
Be as dumb as you like,
You may miss the time of our lives, so stay.
You're dancing under the lights, even if they hate that.

"Are you sure about this, Kai?" You ask him for the third time already.

"I told you, you're gonna be fine. I'm sure they'll like you!" Kai reassures you. Apparently, Kai talked to the students from the music club to ask if they could have you audition for the upcoming event. You had to admit that you were pretty good at playing the guitar and you knew how to sing, but the feeling of anxiety was still there.

Turn up the radio,

He knocked on the room door and seconds later, you both entered.

"You're (L/N) (F/N), right? I suppose you're here to audition?" One of the students (that sounded really like an adult) ask as you nod. He points at a microphone and a stack of instruments at the end of the room. He told you to preform a song and you did.

There wasn't one person in the room that wasn't amazed by your skills, even Kai. The judges quickly accepted and let you be in the event.

So throw your hands in the air,
C'mon and make this count.
It's only you and me, nevermind this crowd.

~At the day of the event~

"I can't wait! I'm so nervous!" You complained to Kai backstage as you were waiting for the show to start. After the auditions, you really opened yourself out to people, but only a few.

"You're fine, just do your best out there." Kai reassures you as he puts a hand on your head.

"Thanks..." You muttered. Seconds later you heard applause coming from the stage which was your cue to step in.

You walked on the stage in your (F/) knee-length dress that Kai bought for you with his modeling money and you stepped in front of the microphone. You started softly strumming the guitar and singing softly to match up with the drummers from behind.

Near the end, everyone was stood up from their seat and cheering.

Someday when you're alone and feeling whatever, you gotta remember the times
When we were dancing alone,
And holding fake microphones,
I hope those memories could make you feel alright.

When you end the song, you suddenly think about how Kai was always there for you. You look to the side and saw him smiling and giving you thumbs up. If he wasn't there for you, this wouldn't have happened. And that's what made him so damn amazing.
