The Only One (James potter)

Chapter 2

They arrived at Hogwarts rather quickly. Anna was asleep throughout half of the journey. And so are the others. As soon as they arrived, they quickly wore their robes and got off the train. Anna sighed. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were waiting outside. Probably just James waiting for Lily. She could hear Lily grunting when they all saw the boys.

"Lily!!" James shouted in delight. Anna quickly moved away far from Lily, careful not to let them notice. Shes safer behind Alice. Just then only Anna realised that Dibbles was nowhere to be found. That cat must have jumped off her lap whilst she was asleep. She searched around for him panickly. Ignoring James's and Lily's bickering.

"Looking for this?" Anna looked to her right and saw her worst nightmare holding her precious baby. Lucius Malfoy. "Yes infact I am." She grabbed Dibbles off Lucius's hands and patted the poor cat softly. Earning a cute purr in return. Lucius smirked. Anna bit her lips. Suddenly she realised her whole friends are eyeing them. In disgust that is. Well they were glaring at Lucius Malfoy to be exact.

Not wanting to start a fight, Anna quickly said thanks and ran towards her friends. "What was that?" Sirius asked. His tone clearly annoyed. "Nothing." Anna muttered. Her friends doesnt seem to believe it but they just shrugged it off. Lily finally pushed James away succesfully so that the four of the girls could walk together in peace.

They walked towards the school cheerfully. "Now that you mentioned it, I wonder where did Severus went to? I didnt see him at all in the train." Anna asked. Alice and Marlene just shook their heads. Anna wasnt very sure is it just her or Lily had a slight blush on her cheeks upon hearing Severus's name. "He was in the train." Lily said in a low voice.

"Oh? I didnt see him. Lils you had such nice sight." Said Marlene whilst she play with Dibbles. Lily simply smiled. 'That was weird.' Anna thought to herself.

They arrived at the front door and walked towards the Hall. All of them took seats at the Gryffindor table. Just as they sat, again the Marauders came and joined them. Surprisingly, James had took his seat next to Anna. Upon realising this, she slowly stood up to change seats when James had grabbed her arm. "Where are you going?" He said in a quite soft voice. Anna gulped.

"Uhh toilet."

"The ceremony is starting in 5 minutes." He exclaimed. 'Well I know that Im just making excuses since I don't want to seat next to you.' Anna thought to herself. She wished she could voice it out loud though. Anna sighed and sat back on her seat. Not that she knows that Lily and Remus had realised something was off.

The ceremony started off nicely. Professor Dumbledore as usual did his funny speech. The whole hall laughed. Anna fiddled uncomfortably. She needs to put her plan at work if she wants to stop falling for her crush. 'Well maybe a last look wouldnt mind.' She thought. Slowly yet carefully, she turned her gaze towards James. Well she could only see his side profile since he was paying attention to Professor Dumbledore. But she didnt mind.

Anna studied his beautiful features. His messy hair, his tanned-white skin. His sharp and nicely shaped jawline. His plump lips. His laughs everytime Professor Dumbledore made a joke. Anna smiled. She wished this moment would last forever. She love studying James features. Though some might think its a bit creepy but who cares. Shes never going to have him afterall. Might as well appreciate it for the last time.

Remus's POV

Remus turned his head towards James and saw him laughing. He smiled but then he saw Anna not paying attention to the front but instead, on James. Remus blinked. He thought his eyes were deceiving for a moment when he realised it was real. Anna was intensely staring at James. It somehow made Remus's hard break since those eyes are staring with full of love.
