Henry whispered a curse under his breath. Chris backed off in shock of what he beheld, trying hard not to expel the contents of his stomach which forced his way up to his mouth. The gruesome scene in front of them sent a wave of emotions down their spine. Curse words came in handy as even more students forced their way through the door. One couldn't quite tell which was more grisly, the ripped body parts or the stink of splattered blood on the walls of the place. Soon enough, the emergency alarm went off and it took a moment before the security guys came around, backing everyone off from the gory scene.

It was quite a task having to put off the students and even the yellow tapes were of little use as even more students trooped into the floor of the hostel, each one trying to scramble through to catch a glimpse of the news that had spread around the block like wild fire.

It was the third body in less than a week, and things couldn't possibly get any better. There were many things Henry feared in life, starting from the concept of Life in its self, but the dead showing up again? Even the zombie apocalypse could've been better than having to be on the timeline of some unseen thing whose job basically looked like dragging as many souls as it could to the other side.

"Back off now, everyone" said the Vice Chancellor in a raging voice as he approached from the stairs, still dressed in his white night robe. The security guards paved a path for him through the students as he hurried along briskly, followed behind by a group of staff members. As much as Mr. Parker tried, he couldn't avoid the peering stare from Henry as he followed behind the V.C. At that moment, Henry realized that the man hadn't said anything further since the moment they left his apartment. For some reason, something just didn't settle well with how his lecturer reacted to the subject and that was quite questioning to say the least.

The professor halted the medics who emerged from the scene, carrying a stretcher covered in white. They got into a short conversation before he finally lifted off a portion of the white clothing covering the body which he dropped back almost immediately, stunned by what he had seen. Mr. Parker simply moved his face away from the body, his heart seemed to squeeze tightly at the sight of it. Henry looked closely, heaving a distressed breath while he watched the professor shake his head in disbelief before entering the lavatory.

"Professor, what in Robert Wells' name is happening?" a student asked the moment the professor come out of the lavatory.

"Caution, young man," his eyes were sunken and his shoulders dropped as he answered calmly in a broken voice, almost disregarding every iota of rudeness that came with calling his name in such manner.

"Caution? That's the third goddam body already," another student countered, pointing in the direction of the slightly opened bathroom door from which the display of crimson red on the floor and walls could be seen. A rain of complaints rose to the air, turning the hallway into a sort of mad house.

"The cops would be here soon," he replied, not having the guts to keep a conversation with alarmed, fear-stricken students. "We got this under control."

"Yeah right!" they all replied in sarcasm. Professor Robert Wells made his way through the crowd along with his cohorts which had come with him, leaving the students in their pool of jumbled feelings. Chris grabbed Henry by the shoulder, inciting him to look away from the direction of the lavatory where medics went to and fro.

The day had started on yet another terrible note and just like the library and parking lot, the lavatory was also labelled 'Out-of-bound', only Lord knew how much longer before the next body appeared and in what form it'll be this time. Just like the previous day, school activities were suspended for few hours spanning pretty much the whole morning and creeping into early noon. The police cars had showed up again in their numbers alongside the ambulance vans about an hour after the incident.

It wasn't much a surprise, or at least not to Henry when the first set of local news station van pulled up in front of the 3 story building in which a better number of students lived. It wasn't much of a problem for the newspersons to get a willing student who wished to talk about the recent occurrences in the school, especially when there seemed to be no possible explanation to things.

The blinds made a snap sound the moment Chris let go of it. He turned back to his roommates, resting his back against the wall and facing the ceiling in misery. Since the morning's incident, Kendrick had started being a believer in all the weird stories which he'd been hearing from his friends. Henry on the other hand hadn't been much active either but rather had snuggled himself at the edge of his bed, fiddling his phone in silence. Chris had managed to catch a few glimpses of him shaking his head at whatever was on his screen and then sighing deeply.

"It's only getting worse guys," Chris whispered more to himself but what loud enough to get his friends attention, "and we haven't heard a word about McKay in days now."

Kendrick sighed and then buried his face in his palms, he shook his head to make the haunting image of what he had witnessed firsthand go out of his head but it all didn't seem to be of much good. It made his heart drop in pace, each beat it made thumped even harder against his chest.

Henry sprang up from his bed, walked over to the closet and pulled out the sweat shirt he had brought back from Mr. Parker's place the day before. Chris looked confusingly at him while he slid his legs into a sneaker and then grab his phone and head towards the door without a single word.

"And where are you going?" Chris asked with concern.

As the door slammed shut, Henry's response resounded within the room making his roommates even more speechless. "To find answers."
