The buzzing sound of the needle echo's in my ear as I tattoo a snake curling around a man's arm.

I wipe the excess ink off of his arm to give me a better view and I start drawing the head, matching the picture I drew for him before I tattooed it on his arm.

It has been exactly two weeks today, since my name appeared number one on the board for the final rankings. I was so excited but shocked that I came out first, something I totally wasn't expecting due to my performance during all of Initiation. Four even looked shocked but amazement won over.

I decided to work along side of Tori in the Tattoo Parlor instead of getting the expected job, a leader. I thought that it would be too much to handle and I couldn't work with Eric for the rest of my life without killing him.

Nobody really took that position, not even Peter. Which surprised me fully, he always gloated about being the leader when Initiation ended, but when his time came he chose to work on the fence with Al.

Christina chose to work in the Infirmary along with Will. Uriah, and Marlene chose to be a faction ambassador and representative. Lynn chose to work in the stores mostly the weapons store. She also decided to work part time at the fence.

So, life here in Dauntless has been fine so far. I have my own apartment, Christina and Will share so that left me all alone to myself. Christina's apartment turned into a huge closet that Christina and I share, which isn't really necessary since I really don't care about fashion.

Just as I finish up with my customer my timer ends signaling that it's time for me to switch shifts with Emma, also known as Four's girlfriend. They've been dating since they competed in Initiation to become a full fledge Dauntless member.

"You like it?" I ask as I give the mirror to my customer so he can get a better view.

"Yes!" He exclaims looking at the fresh ink on his skin making me proud. Who would have known that a former Abnegation-born inking Dauntless members.

"Good, now don't forget to keep it bandaged until two days but during those two days, make sure that you put this ointment." I say handing him the white tube and he nods standing going to the cash register so that he can give his credits.

The door swings open with a high-pitched chuckle. Emma steps in with Four and he has his arm slung around her shoulders.

I stand up from my station and take my smock off placing it in my locker which is under my station, I grab my leather jacket shrugging it over my shirt and I place my phone and keys in my pocket.

"Bye Tori." I say as I take my hair out of my jacket and she turns to face me and frowns making me chuckle.

"I'll be here tomorrow." I say and she chuckles.

"Alright, bye Tris." She says smiling and I laugh and leave the shop heading towards the Infirmary to pick up Christina and Will.

I see through the glass window Christina sitting behind a counter labeling syrups and Will is on the other side writing something on a thick stack of papers. They seem in deep thought, giving me the perfect advantage to get in without Christina getting all over dramatic about not seeing me in forever, which was only this morning.

"Hey." I say with a small smile sitting beside Will and Christina gasps clutching her chest, staring at me wide-eyed.

"You scared me!" She exclaims placing the bottle in a neat order beside other dark bottles which I am assuming is other liquid medicines. I knew that I couldn't handle a job like this, me being my clumsy self would instantly drop the glass bottles or make a mistake and label the wrong medicines.

"Very Dauntless of you, Chris." Will says with a smirk opening a drawer and places the papers in there neatly. "Shift over already?"

"Yeah, and I'm hungry." I say just as my stomach lets out a low grumble.

"Let's go then." Christina says taking off her lab coat and Will clocks them both out making me think about my actions. Did I clock out earlier?

Well, Tori saw me leave so it shouldn't be fine.

Our little trio makes our way to the canteen where people are entering and leaving at the same time making it difficult to distinguish what line do we have to get in. Christina, Will, and I get in line grabbing the black metal tray and the lunch ladies start filling our trays up with what we pick.

I decide to get a pizza that has red onion, chicken, and green peppers on it with a cup of fries and dauntless cake. I decide to stop by the fridge and grab a can of soda and I follow Christina and Will to our normal table.

During dinner we have a good conversation about our jobs, dauntless, and initiation. All of the good moments, trying to refrain from bringing up bad memories.

"Hey guys!" A happy voice says and I look up to see Uriah walking past with a pile of food on a tray and we wave our hands.

"I'm having a party this Friday if you are interested in coming. It's going to be at my apartment, 34L." He says and we nod our heads and he leaves going to sit with his friends.

"Are you coming, Tris?" Christina asks as I push around bits of Dauntless cake around my plate with my fork, not really paying attention to Christina's new mood change about the party.

"I don't know." I say shrugging my shoulders, Christina whines and protest but I ignore her as I collect my things on my tray.

"I should get going guys, I'm tired and I have work tomorrow. I'll talk to you more about the party." I say trying to leave on a good note, even though I really don't want to go to this party.

"Fine." Christina says letting out a sigh of defeat. She stands on her feet and gives me a quick hug. "Bye."

I sigh kicking off my shoes at the door, walking to my bedroom not bothering to cut on any lights. I strip off all of my clothing and hop into the shower, cleansing myself before I get into my sheets.

I get out just as quickly as I got out. I slip on a pair of underwear, bra and a V-neck. I don't bother putting on pants before I go to bed. But, I brush my teeth and place my towel around my head after combing it and then fall on to my bed.

Not caring if it's early and Dauntless is just waking up.

I sigh and wrap my sheets around my body, closing my eyes letting the darkness consume me.
