“Come on, it'll be fun! I'll even treat you to dinner,”
I couldn't pass up the offer of free food, “Fine then,”
“Okay, great! I'll meet you outside in about an hour? Later, Tatty.”
“Don't call me that!” I called to his retreating back and I could hear his laugh as I closed the door. I smiled to myself as I walked up the stairs to shower. I'd never been shopping with anyone other than my family; I'd never had any female friends, and the guys from the club weren't into that kind of thing. They were macho men, and didn't do anything of the sort.
I stood at my wardrobe with a towel wrapped around me as I pondered what to wear. It actually looked like summer outside; the sky was blue with barely a cloud in sight and the sun shone brightly. I pulled out a pair of ripped denim shorts and a sky blue top. I slipped on my blue high-tops and combed my untamed curls. I slipped on a blue headband to keep it out of my face and headed back downstairs.
I wrote a quick note to my parents then headed outside. The view from my window didn't disappoint. The sun beat down and warmed my arms and legs. It was rare for the weather to be this warm, and soaked I it up as I walked towards Sam's house. He was pulling his bike out of the garage and I grinned at the prospect of riding it again.
“You're awfully excited to go shopping,” Sam commented, looking up at me.
“I'm more excited to ride on your bike, but yeah, that too,” I replied, not taking my eyes off the motorbike.
He chuckled as he tossed me a helmet. “You look really pretty, by the way,” he was looking me up and down and I blushed under his gaze.
“Stop looking at me like that,” I said.
“I can't help it, Tatty. You look hot!” He wiggled his eyebrows at me and I smacked his arm, trying to conceal my blush.
“Stop it, or I'll go home.”
He laughed, “You blush so easily!”
I bit my lip as I realised he was right, I never used to blush, but Sam could make be turn red so easily. “How much money do I need? I've got about eighty in my bag...” I gestured towards my small shoulder bag.
“That's more than enough, now hop on.”
I slipped my helmet on and slid over the seat as the engine revved. Tightly, I wrapped my arms around Sam's torso, laying my head on his muscular back. We were speeding away and my stomach flipped with excitement. A grin exploded onto my face as I watched the scenery around us merge into a blur. We wove in and out of cars, past the park and over a bridge. Twenty minutes later, we turned into a parking lot. The shopping was large and modern looking, and judging by the amount of cars outside, it was pretty popular.
After locking Sam's bike, we made our way towards the building. I was met by the loud chattering of shoppers and a pop song playing in the background somewhere. The sight was overwhelming; there was never anything this busy in my old town. There weren't any major shopping centres, just little shops.
“Stay close, I don't want to lose you,” Sam spoke into my ear as he put an arm around my waist. I flinched at the unexpected touch and he pulled his arm back.
“No. Sorry...” I blushed in embarrassment, “I mean, it was just, erm, unexpected?” I stumbled over my words as he watched me with an eyebrow raised.
“Lets go into this one,” He pulled me towards him again, this time his arm was around my shoulders as he guided me towards a shop called 'Shoeperstore'. From the name, I guessed it was a shoe shop. “I love this shop, I bet you will too,” Sam said as we walked inside. It was small, but the walls were covered from ceiling to floor with shoes of all kind, ranging from heels to trainers to sports shoes of all colours. In the middle were various benches, chairs and stools for people to sit on while trying the shoes on.
