The legend of the red thread (known as Akai Ito or Unmei no Akai Ito) is an ancient belief of Chinese and Japanese origin that says two predestined people are linked from birth by an invisible red thread tied to their little fingers. No matter how much time passes, no matter how much the thread pulls or gets tangled, the people linked by it will meet again.
