Chapter 1. New Beginings

"Lexi! Hurry up or you're gonna be late for check in at your apartment." My dad called down from the living room juggling his keys in his hands.

I rolled my eyes, "dad, give me a sec! I gotta say bye to Little." I kneeled down on my bed where my cat was curled up. "Okay, I'll be back in a couple of weeks. I'll be down for my birthday, so you'll get me that entire weekend." I kissed the top of her head and she looked up at me with those beautiful green eyes. I hated leaving my cat while I was off at college. The dorms my freshman year didn't allow any pets. Now that I'm a sophomore, I was hoping the student apartments off campus would allow pets, but they sadly don't. I've had her since I was in eighth grade. She's kinda my daughter at this point.

I got up, threw on my backpack and headed downstairs. "Lexi, we gotta go now!" My dad said as he walked in through the back door. "Dad, it's fine. We have all day to check in. I was just saying bye to Little. I won't see her for another month." I frowned thinking of how hard it is every time I say bye to her.

My dad looked at me and said, "she'll be right here when you get back". He walked over to me and placed an OU football cap on my head. "Have I ever told you how proud me and your mom are of you?" He asked me while smiling ear to ear. I laughed, "yes, MANY times. But it's thanks to you both that I even have the opportunity to go to college". I adjusted the cap on my head, moving some pieces of hair away from my face. "And don't you forget it!" My mom said while she walked into the living room joining in on our conversation. "Never!" I laughed.

My dad smiled and look at us both. "Good. Now, let's go! We've got a 3 hour drive ahead of us!"

My parents got into their truck, and I pulled out right behind them in my car. I put my shades on and as I drove away, I could see my house in my rear view mirror grow smaller and smaller. I was really excited for this school year. I had a group of friends that I got really close with that I met last year in the dorms. I was no longer a freshman who knew nothing about campus or being in college. I was experienced. Well, experienced in the way that I knew my way around campus. Experienced in other ways? No.

Growing up, I was always the "goody-goody" as people would say. I kinda felt like I had to be. My brother would always cause problems for my parents, so I kinda felt like I needed to behave. But now that I'm almost 20, I'm getting tired of being the only virgin within my friend group. That's why this weekend, I'm finally going to meet up with Jared and get it over with.

Jared was this guy I matched with on Tinder. He plays football for this smaller school about an hour away from where I go to school. We've been talking since last semester but we have yet to meet. Did I like him? Eh. He was just someone to talk to. He wasn't too interesting if I'm being quite honest. He was nice, but the spark just wasn't there for me.

About an hour into the car ride, I was getting a call from Kalina.

Kalina: Hey, are you down to go to a party this weekend? Spencer invited us to his house warming party!

Me: Spencer? Wait, who's that again?

Kalina: Lex! SPENCER. You know, the really hot frat guy I made out with last semester at his frat party? PLEASE tell me you remember him.

Me: Ohhhhh, so he invited YOU, not me.

Kalina: He said I could bring a friend. Please??? Remember when I said I was going to make sure you have a fun sophomore year? Come on, Lex!!!

Me: Uh...okay, fine. Can I bring a guy...?

Kalina: Bitch, what??? What guy?? WHO?

Me: Calm down! I'll give you the details when I see you. We're still about 2 hours away. Don't worry!
