Turning your Back

Sasaki turned back around, and walked off into the distance, and as much as I wanted to stop him, to pull him back inside and make them apologize, I couldn't move my feet.

That cold September morning...

We knew Sasaki wasn't coming back to the CCG.

All I could be happy about was the fact that he did look back.

(Oh god I just made myself cry... and I was listening to "On My Own" when writing this... God Dammit.)

Sasaki POV

Of course it was my fault.

My fault for being weak.

Weak...

I need to get stronger.

No, not stronger.

If I end up like last time, this will all be for nothing. I need to end my trail I left behind in the past. It's about time I paid some visits that need to be given.

I look at the address on the piece of paper. If I do this, there's no turning back. I have a plan, and to do that, I will need them...

I stop walking in front of a door, and knock on it. The hollow sound echoing through the empty street made me glance around me every so often.

The door slowly opened, showing a man with a beard, and hair pulled back. His eyes went wide with surprise as his eyes went on me.

He tried to slam the door shut, but I put my foot in the door way, but it didn't hurt a bit.

"W-What does an investigator want with me?" He asked, his tone nervous.

So, he doesn't know that I remembered? I would have the same reaction too, but now, I have no time for this.

"Banjou... it's me." I said.

Banjou stood there for a moment, his eyes widening, then he opened the door and bear hugged me, making me blink, he lifted me a bit into the air, he was still way talked than me.

"Kaneki! It's you, right, Kaneki!" He said with a grin.

I wanted to smile, but given the circumstances, I couldn't bring myself to. I pull him off and sigh.

"Listen, Banjou... we're going to see Nest." I said.

Banjou looked confused. "Why Nest? I've heard of them..." he trailed off.

"Because, they're interested in the same things I am. And... Rize is with them." I said, catching his interest.

Banjou gave me a silly salute. "Y-Yes! I'll gather the others and we'll head there right away!" He said.

I know he is eager to see Rize. He had to have heard she was around, but we had no time to dwindle here.

I look down at my hands and clench them hard, until my knuckles turned white. Saiko... I'll hunt down these people.

And I'll kill every single one!

??? POV

I laugh as I stare out at the city, the news I just got making me giggle uncontrollably. The guards gave each other nervous glances as I did, but I dint care at the moment.

"Ah! Eye patch and the Crow, both wanting to hunt us? V? Hahahahaha!" I said between laughter, holding my stomach as Kanou silently sat in the chair he was in.

"But we lost our test subject." He said with a grim expression.

I smirked, growing across my whole face. "Don't worry, doctor. We will get you more... in fact... I think I have one in mind." I said, pulling out of my laughter and pushing a folder towards him.

He squint a at me then takes the folder, looking down at it with interest and keen eyes. His expression widens and a smile grows on his lips.

"This will do nicely. Very nicely." He said, a small chuckle reaching out of him.

I turn back towards the window, and smirk largely. Oh, my city, Tokyo! How you have gone through much hate through the years! But don't worry, it will all end soon.

Besides, everything is going to plan. Moving Sasaki and Levin into place, was perfect.

Now, for the unveiling of the next act!
