Aperturis
Opens a passage through solid, unmoving matter, such as stone or rock, folding the barrier aside rather than destroying it. Requires precision and a clear sense of what lies beyond.
Emendo
Repairs broken or damaged objects, mending them back to their original shape. Has no effect on living tissue; for that, a healer relies on Sanare instead.
Exanima
A silent, instantly lethal curse. Leaves no visible wound and no warning. Among the gravest curses a wand can cast.
Fulgor
Produces a scorching, controlled burst of light and heat, effective against smaller threats at close range.
Ictus
A sharp disarming strike, capable of shattering a hastily raised shield and throwing a wand clear from its owner's grip.
Inducia
Grants a brief, involuntary truce between two casters, neither able to attack the other until the charm lapses. Rarely used, and rarely trusted.
Levaris
Lifts an object or a person gently off the ground, holding them steady in the air for as long as the caster concentrates.
Lumina
Conjures a small, steady point of light at the tip of the wand, bright enough to see by in even the darkest places.
Obscura
Wraps the caster or a chosen object in shadow, dulling its outline enough to pass unnoticed in poor light. Ineffective in full daylight.
Quiesce
A calming charm, intended to soothe agitated creatures or people. Its effectiveness depends heavily on the will of whatever it is cast against.
Recludo
Unlocks wards, locks, and sealed doorways. Distinct from Aperturis, which opens a path through matter rather than releasing a mechanism.
Sanare
A healing charm, capable of closing wounds and knitting torn skin, though it does not undo exhaustion or blood already lost.
Scutum
A defensive shield, raised quickly to absorb or deflect an incoming spell. Its strength depends on the caster's skill and composure.
Silentio
Silences a person or creature entirely, leaving speech and sound impossible, though thought and movement remain unaffected.
Speculamen
Conjures a screen or surface capable of showing a reflection, image, or recorded scene.
Transitus
Opens a portal between two locations, allowing near-instant travel. Costly to cast repeatedly, and every use leaves a trace that can, under the right circumstances, be followed.
Vestigium
Reveals the recent passage of a person or creature through a given space, tracing footprints, warmth, or disturbed air that would otherwise go unnoticed.
Vigilo
Sets a quiet alarm over a chosen space, alerting the caster the moment it is crossed or disturbed. Common in wardens' rounds and restricted archives alike.
Volitas
Grants brief, controlled flight to the caster, demanding considerable focus and rarely sustained for long.
Wyrdstil
An old and rarely taught charm that stills a struggling creature entirely, neither harming it nor putting it fully to sleep. Its name is one of the few words in common use that comes from no recognized founding tongue at all.
