Chapter 1 - The First Look

Jake had never understood the obsession with K-pop. His best friends could spend hours talking about idols, watching performances, and showing each other pictures, while Jake couldn't care less.

"Jake, look at this!" his best friend said one morning at the university café.

Jake didn't even look up from his coffee. "No."

"You don't even know what it is."

"It's K-pop."

She laughed. "Just look for five seconds."

Jake sighed. "Fine."

She turned her phone toward him.

At first, Jake wasn't interested. Then he saw the picture.

A boy with dark hair was smiling softly at the camera.

Jake froze.

For some reason, he couldn't look away.

"Jake?"

He blinked. "What?"

"You've been staring."

"I haven't."

"You have."

Jake quickly looked away. "Who is he?"

Her eyes widened. "Wait... you actually want to know?"

"No. I was just asking."

"His name is Heeseung. He's an idol."

Jake nodded. "Okay."

He handed her phone back and tried to forget about it.

But somehow, the face stayed in his mind for the rest of the day.

That night, Jake lay in bed, scrolling through his phone.

He told himself he was bored.

That was why he opened YouTube.

That was definitely why he searched, "Heeseung live."

He clicked on the first video.

Heeseung appeared on the screen, laughing while reading comments from fans.

Jake watched quietly.

"This isn't so bad," he muttered.

One video became two.

Two became three.

Before he knew it, almost an hour had passed.

Jake stared at his screen and sighed.

"Okay... maybe he's kind of interesting."

He quickly locked his phone.

"That's it. I'm not watching anymore."

Five minutes later, he unlocked his phone again.

He searched for another video.

Jake had no idea that the person on his screen would soon become someone he could never simply forget.
