Chapter 1
The Final Transition
Wembley Stadium
London, England
July 16th, 1988
Every story has a beginning.
Mine ended with a white tent.
History remembers the night Michael Jackson disappeared.
It just never knew where he went.
Michael
Crowd vibrating the stage.
It feels like rumbling from a thunderstorm.
Fans screaming out my name
Michael!
Michael!
Michael!
This is my biggest career yet.
Every night I give my all on each stage I stand on, but I can also feel how much alone that I am.
I mean I'm not physically alone because I have my band with the instruments, background singers for the vocals, dancers to make some of my performances fuller, wardrobe and crew for making me look my absolute best each night on stage, production and management helping putting my version of my Bad tour to life and helping making it the best tour of the 3 years that I am touring.
But mentally I felt alone, I couldn't deny how I felt because it was clear as day.
The lights have darkened on stage as they prepare for the prop.
The white tent.
The crowd had died down.
They had me inside making sure everything was fine checking my makeup if it needs fixing.
Checking my clothes to make sure I didn't ripe anything.
Dapping me off with a towel from sweating.
Drink orange juice to hydrate.
You can hear that I am about to start dirty Diana.
Hearing the beat just a little bit while hitting the tent with the beat.
Crowd started to rumble.
I came out of the tent walking center stage adjusting my microphone stand.
The lights were on me now.
Crowds ruptures.
I put my hand over my face as the beat of dirty Diana comes clearer to the crowd.
Hearing the guitar riffing a tiny bit and the drums starting the melody, I was in my own element.
That is when I started to sing.
[Verse 1]
You'll never make me stay, so take your weight off of me
I know your every move, so won't you just let me be?
I've been here times before, but I was too blind to see
That you seduce every man, this time, you won't seduce me
[Pre-Chorus]
You're saying, "That's okay, hey, baby, do what you please
I have the stuff that you want, I am the thing that you need"
She looked me deep in the eyes, she's touching me so to start
She says, "There's no turning back", she trapped me in her heart
[Chorus]
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, let me be
I backed away from the microphone.
The lights went black.
Only one light hovering above me.
The crowd screams.
(Oh no, oh no, oh no)
[Verse 2]
She likes the boys in the band, she knows when they come to town
Every musician's fan after the curtain comes down
She waits at backstage doors for those who have prestige
Who promise fortune and fame, a life that's so carefree
[Pre-Chorus]
She's saying, "That's okay, hey, baby, do what you want
I'll be your night-loving thing, I'll be the freak you can taunt
And I don't care what you see, I wanna go too far
I'll be your everything if you make me a star"
[Chorus]
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana, no
Dirty Diana
I moved my mic away while moving my head back while I was feeling the music going through me.
My adrenaline was high.
I could feel it from the crowd.
I done a few spins while coming back towards to microphone to sing some more.
I took my mic off the stand walking towards my lead guitarist Jennifer while she lets it rip.
[Bridge]
Diana, Diana
Dirty Diana
It's Dia—, yeah, yeah
Come on!
I did another spin while I went to the ground on my knees.
The white light still hovering above me.
While outside of me is a purple blue hue mix.
Jennifer walks around my circle while touching my hair.
I look up in the light with my mic in my hand reaching out my hand to it.
Jennifer walks away.
[Verse 3]
She said, "I have to go home, 'cause I'm real tired, you see
But I hate sleeping alone, why don't you come with me?"
I said, "My baby's at home, she's probably worried tonight
I didn't call on the phone to say that I'm alright"
[Pre-Chorus]
Diana walked up to me, she said, "I'm all yours tonight"
At that, I ran to the phone saying, "Baby, I'm alright"
I said, "But unlock the door, 'cause I forgot the key"
She said, "He's not coming back because he's sleeping with me"
I continued to sing, Jennifer was following me around the stage because I was too in my element.
I let her do her thing on the guitar, just feeling her energy coming out of the guitar going directly into me.
Hearing her do her riffs on her guitar.
Crowd going wild.
Feeling that vibration again.
Crowd is cheering even louder than before.
The lights going off at this point making the crowd scream.
The lights finally went black.
The crowd continues to scream.
Now we off onto the next song which is thriller. I got freshen up with my wardrobe and crew they were asking if I needed any water or if anything was wrong with the clothing. I told them no with a smile and I thank them while I went back into the tent I had my thriller jacket on waiting for my cue to start. I knew every routine I had done for this tour so I knew every little detail but this time it was not the same.
I could hear the crowd and the music trying to start.
But the lighting was different.
The crowd starts to fade away.
Lights changing different colors.
Starting to get really dark.
I didn't know what was happening.
Felt like everything shifted.
It was quiet.
No crowd.
But I could still hear thriller playing but that is not have it was supposed to sound.
It sounded like the actual record.
I walked out of the tent didn't even know where I was at.
"Did I die?" I asked myself.
"Where am I?" I questioned.
"Where's the stage?" I asked.
I got out of the tent realizing I wasn't on stage anymore.
