I sit up as my eyes adjust to the building's dim light. I am in a glass box- no a cage made entirely from glass. The walls, the ceiling, even the floor beneath me are transparent I can see people passing by me, they are dressed in lab coats  chatting among  themselves , laughing and sipping from steaming cups . I bang at the glass but they don't spare me a glance, I try screaming but i don't think they can hear me or see me for that matter.

I force myself to look beyond my prison. The building resembles an enormous factory more than a laboratory. Massive machines tower over rows of metal workstations, their gears humming with a deep mechanical rhythm. Long steel tables with computers stretch across the room in perfect rows, every single one facing the far right side of the building.

Low-hanging industrial lights cast a harsh white glow across the room, illuminating every corner...

Suddenly , everything changes,

All conversation stop. All laughter dies down. Every single person in the room freezes, turning their head towards the same spot the tables were positioned to face . I follow their gaze but from where I am , I can't make out what their looking at . All I see is a faint glow.

Within seconds the room explodes with motion, people rush to their station, frantically typing and conversing in rushed tones.

I try banging at the glass again but no one pays me any heed.

The light gets brighter and I hear a blaring alarm.

In seconds ,about ten figures dressed in all black gear rushed into the room , some held guns while others raised their hands with their palm facing the light. They move with trained precision forming  a line between them and the source of the light.

I tried tilting my head again to see what they were looking at. But I am too far. Too blocked

That's when I hear it- a sound so familiar, so distant and yet so close. My alarm

and in the next breathe, I'm thrown back into my life
