Chapter 1
The first day of the fall semester always brought Brushwieler University back to life.
Students filled every pathway with backpacks slung over their shoulders, iced coffees in hand, and conversations that had been waiting all summer to happen. Music played outside the student center while clubs decorated colorful booths along the main courtyard, hoping to recruit new members before classes officially began.
Sophomore year had arrived.
Then the unmistakable roar of a motorcycle echoed across campus.
Heads turned almost immediately.
A sleek black sport bike rolled through the front gates before coming to a smooth stop near the Fine Arts building.
"She's back."
"I knew that was Lisa."
"I swear she gets prettier every semester."
"Didn't she break up with someone before summer?"
"I don't know, but she's still the hottest girl on campus."
The engine shut off.
The rider removed her gloves before taking off her helmet.
Medium-length ash-blonde hair framed her face as she casually brushed it back with one hand. Dressed in a black leather jacket, dark jeans, and combat boots, Lisa Manoban stepped off her motorcycle like she owned the campus.
Maybe she did.
Students couldn't help staring.
Some admired her.
Some whispered about her reputation.
Others simply watched her walk by.
Lisa noticed every pair of eyes on her.
She pretended not to.
Truthfully, she enjoyed the attention.
Home was quiet.
Her parents were successful businesspeople who spent more time on airplanes than in the mansion they all lived in. They loved her in their own way, but work always came first.
Campus was different.
Here, people remembered her.
Here, people smiled when they saw her.
Here, she never felt invisible.
"Lisa!"
She looked up to see Jisoo waving from the steps of the Fine Arts building.
Behind her stood Seulgi and Jeongyeon.
"You actually made it on time," Jisoo teased.
"I always make it on time."
Jeongyeon checked her phone.
"You've got forty-five seconds."
"See? Plenty of time."
Seulgi suddenly spoke.
"I almost came yesterday."
The three girls looked at her.
"...Yesterday?" Lisa asked.
Seulgi nodded.
"I thought school started yesterday."
Jeongyeon sighed.
"I have one question."
"What?"
"How did you get accepted into this university?"
