The darkness lingered in the night sky as if it was a haunting reminder that not everything goes the way that it should and makes everything seem less than more.
I truthfully always preferred the night time growing up; being able to slip away without a soul knowing where I was, but now as a twenty eight year old I feel afraid of the darkness and of the unknown it brings to life.
I had gotten so caught up in my escape that I forgot to properly live, I blame that on my parents. I blame not having a real life on them as well since they tore away my childhood and even the beginning of my teenage years.
I will never forgive them for what they put me through, the way that they raised me as a prop for their own use and disposal.
I was always pushed into things that I never wanted, I never wanted to be filmed on a camera or getting my photos taken by creepy old men who claim to be paparazzi. I never wanted to be seen as someone that they wanted me to be, I just wanted to be me.
But I guess that not having freedom was the joy of having a father that is a profound director and a mother who acts. I had grown up on all sort of sound stages and I could never escape those haunting memories.
I was always expected to follow in their steps, hell I was practically forced into it as a young child. I had so many small roles from the age of two to twelve, I was thirteen when I decided that I wanted normalcy and cut back on as many appearances as I could.
They tried refusing that normalcy until my Aunt had offered me to come live with her and her husband in New York. My father was reluctant on letting me go and my mother, she just let me go.
She wanted to have her life back and blamed me for fourteen years that I was the reason she wasn't this big A+ list actress. She wasn't even a good actress, she only got roles because of my father.
So when I had turned fourteen I had the opportunity, I took it and I never looked back. I left Los Angeles for Queens, where I got to live with my Aunt May and my Uncle Benjamin.
I honestly loved living with them, they took care of me at all hours and even made sure I had everything I needed in life. I was able to get accepted to NYU on a full scholarship because of them, I was able to follow my dreams because of them. I never took their love or support for granted, I appreciated them for everything that they gave me over a four year time frame.
I thanked them specifically in my graduation speech at a party my parents threw. I watched the dismay on my mother and father's faces when I thanked my Aunt and Uncle for raising me the way I deserved to have been raised. I watched them frown when I didn't mention them once in my speech.
I had nothing to be thankful for with them, minus me being born I suppose. I just wanted normalcy my entire life and I got it, but it wasn't easy. Most knew about my past, they would ask me what it was like filming on movies and shows.
Some would ask me to introduce them to specific actors and I would always refuse. I got called so many names because of who my parents were. I was occasionally spotted by the paparazzi's, but I kept my head down and avoided the cameras pointed at me.
It made it hard to date, because no one wants to be with someone like me. Someone who had everything that they could ever want, someone that turned down a life of fame to be a teacher.
But as life does it came crashing down when I turned 22, my uncle Ben had been killed in a shooting at a convenience store in Queens.
I immediately left school to be there for my Aunt, and my cousin whom they took in when my cousin's parents died.
