Epilogue

Napapikit-pikit ako nang biglang may pumalakpak sa harapan ng mukha ko. Ikinunot ko ang noo at matapos ay hinawi palayo ang dalawang kamay. Una kong nakita ang flat screen television na may nakahintong mukha ni Captain America at Black Widow. Sunod na lumipat ang mga mata ko sa taong pumalakpak malapit sa mukha ko at napasimangot nang makita si Savion.

I grimaced, half tempted to slap myself for my momentary stupidity. My brain was so busy swimming in memories that I forgot where I was and what I was doing. Savion saw my reaction and immediately knew what was on my mind.

"Hindi ka naman ata nanunuod!" Savion frowned at me.

"Nanunuod ako." kontra ko dito.

"Oh, talaga? Sige nga, ano nang nangyari?" tinaasan niya ako ng kilay. Natigilan ako at sumilip sa screen, nagbabakasakali na matulungan ako sa isasagot. All I can see is Scarlet and Chris' characters on screen.

Ngumuso ako nang walang makitang hint doon at ibinalik ang mga mata sa pinsan ko. "They're avenging?"

"You're not funny." Savion dryly commented and I just rolled my eyes at her.

She played the movie again and my phone rang at the same time. Savion just grunted but didn't make a move to pause the movie for me. "Di ka naman nanunuod. Answer it here or elsewhere." she dismissed me with a wave of her hand.

Napailing na lang ako kay Savion bago inabot ang phone ko para sagutin ang tawag. My eyebrows raised when I saw my sister's name on screen.

"Hello, pinakamaganda, pinakamabait at pinakamatalinong kapatid ko sa buong universe!" napabuntong hininga ako sa exaggerated na pagbati sa akin ni Les. This only means one thing.

"What do you need?" agad na tanong ko.

"Need agad talaga? Hindi ba pwedeng na-miss ko lang ang pretty kong kapa-"

"I'm hanging this up." I readied my thumb to end the call.

"Wait!" pagpigil niya kaya hindi ko itinuloy ang planong pagpatay sa tawag. "I need your help. At hindi ka pwedeng tumanggi dahil may utang ka sa akin! Remember when you called me to buy something from the mall because you need it for your presentation and have me deliver it within two hours? May klase ako non, traffic, maraming tao sa mall-"

I sighed. Alam kong hindi siya titigil sa pagdrama kaya wlaa akong magagawa kundi ang pumayag. "Fine. Ano ba yon?"

"Tita Nova set Luke up in a date again. He needs an emergency exit. I'm kinda on a date with Sage right now. Once in a lifetime lang 'to. So, please... Please, Avis, can you go and pull him out of that date?"

"What? No!" agaran na kontra ko.

Alam ko ang tungkol sa mga dates na si Tita Nova ang nagse-set up. Les mentioned it multiples times even when I didn't ask for the information.

Simula nang umalis ako para sa on the job training ko sa San Francisco three years ago ay hindi ko na nakausap pang muli si Luke Dashiel at mas gusto ko iyon. Having no any kind of contact means safe for the both of us. I can't afford being near him without risking my heart again.
