"How long, Doctor?" she asked. Her voice sounded thin, like paper tearing in the wind. Yuna sat perfectly still, waiting for the truth.

The doctor sighed, the sound of air leaving a balloon. He didn't look at her; he looked at the black-and-white scans of her brain. "I’m sorry to say this, Yuna , but the clot... it’s in a position where surgery is a suicide mission. We can’t treat it."

A coldness spread from Yuna's chest to her fingertips. She gripped the edge of her chair until her knuckles turned white. "Give me a number," she whispered.

"Six months," he said softly. "Maybe less if the pressure increases."
Six months.

Yuna looked down at her hands—the hands that had spent the last decade typing out stories of love and redemption. Her brain was creating a masterpiece of a tumor while she was struggling to finish a single novel.

"Six months," she repeated, a strange, hollow calm settling over her. She wasn’t thinking about the pain or the funeral. She was thinking about the unfinished chapters on her laptop.

Yuna stood up, She didn't need a miracle; she just needed enough time. "She better get to work," she murmured to the empty air. "She has a lot of words left to write."
