It was an average morning at Camp Half-Blood- the sun was shining, the birds were chirping. There was just one thing Will Solace missed, which was his boyfriend, Nico di Angelo who was on a quest with Leo Valdez and Annabeth Chase. It had been a few days since they left to defeat two titans trying to start a war
He sat on his bunk bed in the Apollo cabin, playing with the Cocoa Puffs, which were personifications of Nico's negative emotions, which only made him more sad. Suddenly, his half sister, Kayla joined him.
"You okay, Will?" She asked, "I can tell you're worrying about him." Will sighed and responded, "I just miss him so much." "Me too," she said, "it's cute when you two argue about who's better and you both say it's the other person." Will playfully threw a pillow at Kayla. "Shut up," he said, though he couldn't help but smile. "Maybe you can Iris-message him," she suggested, "I'll give you some privacy."
Then, she walked out of the cabin as Will pulled out a golden drachma from his pocket. "Show me Nico di Angelo," suddenly, an oval appeared in front of him that clearly showed his boyfriend, who was caught by surprise but happy to see Will. "Oh, hi! How's it going?" Nico asked. "Good, you?" Will said, despite his longing to physically hug and kiss him. "Pretty good, though Leo is threatening to eat a glow stick to gain you Night Light powers," he added, and there were voices in the background; Leo and Annabeth. "And I plan to!" Said Leo, so Annabeth had to yell at him. "You better not! We all need to return to Camp Half-Blood ALIVE!" And she was met with a "boring" from Leo. "Yeah, that sounds like them," Will responded. "Did you guys figure out how to complete the quest yet?" "Actually, yes. We should be back tomorrow," Nico said, and Will was overjoyed, "oh my gods that's great news! Well, I should leave you to planning. Bye, Death Boy." "Bye, Care Bear."
Suddenly, the Iris message vanished and Will was left with the Cocoa Puffs, who were begging him for treats, and he gave them their favorite, dark chocolate. Longing purred and cuddled up on his chest, and images of Nico, Will's mother, and even Kayla and their half brother, Austin, flooded through this mind as he started crying softly.
Once he felt a bit better, he headed toward the mess hall for breakfast, the Cocoa Puffs trailing behind him. He met his siblings at the Apollo table after getting extra dark toast, which he loved because it reminded him of Nico.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, until Austin asked if something happened. "Nico's actually going to put a plan into action today and come back tomorrow," Will replied. "That's good," Austin said, and Kayla asked, "why do you sound upset, then?" "I don't know, I guess I'm worrying more. Plus, I have these little guys," he gestured to Loneliness and Defiance and sighed, "I just hope he doesn't get hurt." To that, Kayla said, "better knock on wood after saying that." Will shrugged, "I don't really believe in superstitions."
When in fact, he should have.
