After her dad came home, she asked him about the party he said yes, they both changed into some casual clothes for the party, Luke put on the school uniform pants and kept the black shirt on and the hoodie, Victoria put on a purple tank top and kept the black tights and put on a black cardigan over top. She put on white Converse sneakers, she hugged her dad and told him she will be back by eleven. Victoria jumped over the fence to her next door neighbor's house, the lights were on but there was nobody there yet except for Carter she knocked on the back door. Where he came from washing dishes, to the door, he smiled when he saw her and opened the door. "Welcome, the party will be starting at seven thirty, do you mind helping me set up the food and everything else?"

"Sure." He started handing her paper plates and bags of chips. "Luke could you get the music set up?" He asked. Luke nodded and started setting up the DJ system. "Victoria, during the party I have to tell you something okay?" Luke looked at her and then at Carter as if saying be careful with her.

"Alright." She agreed.

"Meet me upstairs at exactly nine o'clock alright."

"Okay." She kept setting up the food and drinks until the guests started coming in. The music blasted and everyone started dancing and drinking. Most guys went upstairs with their girls, but most of them stayed downstairs. It was eight fifty and Victoria was looking for Carter she headed upstairs where she was supposed to meet him, there was a popular blonde making out with a football player in the hallway, she looked at her phone and it was eight fifty seven, she kept looking for Carter, she went around the house and looked into all the rooms that were open, suddenly she was grabbed and shoved into a dark room, she tried to scream but a hand was put over her mouth.

"Don't scream." She looked at the dark figure, it was Carter. Victoria calmed down knowing it was someone she knew. "I wanted to ask you something."

"Okay."

"You're moving to Barcelona in two weeks, your dad told my parents and he said you needed a dance partner, and I was wondering if I could be yours, I love dance and I love yo... yogurt." She smiled at him and nodded.

"But you don't go to my dance academy and you're not going to Spain."

"Victoria, please." He got down on his knees and grabbed her hand. "I want to be your dance partner."

"Fine." He smiled stood up and hugged her.

"Thank you and I won't let you down." She moved away from him and they stayed silent for a few minutes. She walked out of the room and so did Carter, he pushed Victoria against the wall and planted his lips against her neck, kissing her moving his way to her lips. She tried pushing him off but he was too strong. "What's wrong, Victoria, you don't want the hottest guy in the twelfth grade to kiss you?" He asked as he attacked her neck again. She looked to the side where Luke was watching them, he came up to Carter, balled his fist and punched his square in the face. He fell to the ground holding his nose, blood went down his hand and out from his nose, he grunted and groaned. "What the crap man!?"

"Don't touch her in that way!" Luke yelled he was never the one to get mad. "And if you ever do it again will break every bone in your body." He walked out and Victoria followed closely behind.

"Seems like someone has a crush." Carter said, his entourage laughed at his comment. Luke and Victoria turned around she walked to Carter and kicked him down. "Don't take it out on me because your mom died." She looked up at him and tried to hold back her tears, she turned away from him pushing her way through the crowd she jumped over the fence and landed hard on the granite patio. The music was loud, she jumped up on her trampoline and dance to them. She was in the middle of a back flip and she landed in a back handspring cracking her left wrist, she fell back gripping it as pain rushed up her left arm. She gasped and fell forward crying.

"You okay?" Luke asked, rushing over to her. He took her up in his arms and cuddled her into his chest. She gasped and sobbed, her mother's death was still fresh in her memory. She shook her head and they both sat down on the trampoline, he looked down at her wrist. "What happened?"

"I just hurt my wrist doing a back handspring, nothing bad."

"Okay. But make sure you ice it." She smiled and nodded.

"Don't you think I've been hurt enough, I don't need anyone like him to bring me down-."

"He was drunk, I smelled it in his breath, and I don't think that that fruit punch was only fruit." She laughed and hugged him. "So birthday tomorrow, how does it feel to be almost sixteen, like me?"

"The same." He smiled and wrapped his arms around her harder.
